Westminster Terror Attack Suspect Arrested After Injuring At Least 15

The suspect is reportedly in his 20s and police have indicated that he is being investigated for terrorist activities.

London rocked by another terror attack.

A terror suspect who injured several and tried to kill at least 15 people in Westminster, United Kingdom on Tuesday with his vehicle has been arrested, according to The Daily Mail. The alleged suspect was apprehended by police after his Ford Fiesta crashed into a barrier at the Houses of Parliament while driving roughly 50 mph. Authorities have indicated they are treating the incident as a terror attack.

The latest terror attack in London shows the city has gotten out of control. President Trump tweeted “Another terrorist attack in London…These animals are crazy and must be dealt with through toughness and strength!” He’s absolutely right. The most horrifying aspect of the incident is that police admit they did not have this terrorist on their radar. How many more of these ‘animals’ are waiting to kill more people?

The Daily Mail reports that the suspect drove his Ford Fiesta, which he purchased roughly two months ago, toward a group of cyclists at high-speed early Tuesday morning. After hitting a few, he appears to have attempted to kill himself afterwards by running into a wall at a high speed.

CCTV footage shows the car veering toward the opposite side of the road around 50 mph before hitting a barrier. Witnesses say the man appeared to be intentionally trying to run over the cyclists, and authorities say they are treating the case as terrorism-related.

“It looked intentional – the car drove at speed and towards the barriers,” one witness said.

The suspect, who is reportedly in his 20s, was taken into custody and is currently being questioned by police.

The Daily Mail reports that he has not been cooperating with counter-terrorism officials — who are handling the investigation — about the attack.

Police said there were no weapons or other passengers in the vehicle with the suspect.

Neil Basu, the assistant commissioner for counter-terrorism, said intelligence officials are looking into whether the suspect was part of or connected to a larger terror cell operation and if he was receiving materials from others regarding the attack.

“It appears to have been a deliberate act, but what the motive was we can’t answer at the moment. We haven’t formally identified the suspect, but we don’t believe he’s known to MI5,” Basu said.

Witness Barry Williams said the suspect’s car accelerated toward the barrier after hitting several of the cyclists, which could be a sign that he was attempting to kill himself. That has not been confirmed by police.

“I turned round to see a silver car heading towards the cyclists on the wrong side of the road, they were parked waiting for the lights to change,” he said. “He hit the cyclists then swerved over towards where the safety barrier is…. and accelerated and hit it at quite a high speed.

The only information about the suspect that has been made public is that he’s reportedly in his 20s and is being held on suspicion of terrorism.

As more information is released about the suspect, Tuesday’s attack is one of many terror incidents that has rocked the U.K. in recent years.
