Host Charlie Rose called former Trump adviser Steve Bannon to task for his views on immigration, invoking “good Catholics” like Cardinal Dolan who advocate open borders.
Bannon immediately shot back that “the Catholic Church has been terrible about this. The bishops have been terrible about this.”
He said that instead of fixing problems with the church (which have led to declining attendance), they have used illegal immigrants in order to fill the pews – and the collection plates. He went so far as to say they “have an economic interest in unlimited illegal immigration.”
When defending his views, he explained that this issue is not about religious doctrine, it’s about the sovereignty of the nation.
Is Bannon right or wrong on this issue?
