Have you wondered why the Republican party seems so hellbent on preventing Trump’s presidency from succeeding? They have given him a harder time than some Democrats, and have blocked his agenda at key moments when they could have helped instead.
With friends like these, who needs enemies? Trump must be scratching his head wondering how he got stuck leading a party that vows to sabotage him.
Now that Bannon, who was one of Trump’s top advisers, has been ejected from the White House, he is free to spill the beans on what’s going on behind closed doors. In his recent interview with 60 Minutes’ Charlie Rose, Bannon confirmed what many were already thinking. Trump hasn’t been able to drain the swamp, because the swamp includes much of the republican party!
To make matters worse, the top party leadership – Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan – are two of the staunchest Trump opponents. In fact, one of the first things the Senate Majority Leader told President Trump is that he “doesn’t want to hear any more of this drain the swamp talk.”
If Steve Bannon’s message is to be taken at face value, it means that the president’s only remaining allies are we the people. The press is against him, the democrats are against him, and the republicans are against him too. Luckily, it’s the voters who matter most!
