Over the weekend, Mike Cernovich, a well-known conservative social media personality, held an exclusive nightclub party in New York City. The purpose of the event, which he called a “Night for Freedom,” was to celebrate the first anniversary of President Donald Trump being inaugurated.
Unfortunately, due to the nature of the event, numerous members of “Antifa,” a far-left domestic terrorist group known for using violence against those they disagree with politically, decided to show up and protest outside the gala. Unsurprisingly, the situation eventually became violent as some of the protesters ended up savagely assaulting several of the attendees, resulting in at least one hospitalization.
Specifically, an unidentified 56-year-old man had to be taken to the hospital shortly after being beaten up by an Antifa thug who was later identified as David Campbell. According to reports, Campbell, who spotted the elderly man leaving the event, followed him for about a block before allegedly choking and punching him.
Thankfully, though, someone who witnessed the attack immediately dialed 911 and reported the assault. Shortly after the call was placed, paramedics arrived at the scene and brought the victim to a nearby hospital in stable condition.
Police officers also showed up and arrested Campbell. He’s currently facing charges of “assault, weapons possession, assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, and loitering.”
Although there currently isn’t any video footage of the actual assault against the elderly man, Jonathan Levine, who is the Media Editor for The Wrap, managed to record a video of the aftermath, which he has since posted online. In the video, Campbell can be seen sitting in handcuffs while the victim lies nearby, seemingly unconscious.
Sadly, it’s not uncommon for members of Antifa to engage in political violence. For example, back in July, a black conservative who was filming people participate in a “March Against White Nationalism” was punched in the face by a member of Antifa. After striking the aggressor back, he flagged down a police officer who happened to be driving by and filed a police report.
The protesters tried to lie to the officer about what happened, but thankfully, the whole incident was caught on camera. As a result, it was easy for the cop to figure out what really happened.
And a month before that, in June, Eric Clanton, an Antifa professor who used to teach at Diablo Valley College, was allegedly caught on camera savagely bashing someone over the head with a bike lock. As a consequence, he was arrested and charged with four counts of “felony assault” for causing great bodily injury. He also was charged with “wearing a mask during the commission of a crime,” which is a misdemeanor.
And prior to that, Yvonne “Yvette” Capistrano Felarca, a prominent far-left Antifa extremist known for organizing and advocating for militant protests, was also arrested after engaging in assault. Specifically, she was filmed repeatedly striking a member of the Traditional Worker’s Party (TWP), a far-right political group, at a political rally in Sacramento back in 2016. During the attack, she accused him of being a “Nazi” and chanted “get the f*** off our streets!”
Thankfully, it looks like Felarca, who teaches at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School for the Berkeley Unified School District (BUSD), will likely be held accountable for her actions. This is because she has since been taken into custody and charged with “assault by means of force likely to inflict great bodily injury, participating in a riot, and inciting a riot.”
Violent extremism must not be allowed to continue. Hopefully, Campbell and anyone else using intimidation, aggression, and destruction to silence and intimidate others are ultimately punished as harshly as possible so that it’s perfectly clear that this type of behavior will not be tolerated.
