Trump’s Legal Team Preparing “Counter-Report” To Mueller’s Findings

The Trump legal team will release their report after Robert Mueller releases his findings

Mueller, Manafort reached a tentative deal to avoid second trial.

Rudy Giuliani, President Donald Trump‘s personal lawyer, told USA Today on Monday that the president’s legal team is preparing a “counter report” to rebut any allegations that Special Counsel Robert Mueller may include in his final report into alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia during the 2016 presidential election.

Giuliani also said he believes Mueller is “bluffing,” and that it is time for the special counsel to “put up or shut up.” Giuliani said Mueller has been investigating Trump for more than a year, and that it’s time to wrap it up given no evidence has been released proving any crimes were committed by the president.

During an interview with Axios, Giuliani also said he expects Mueller to release his findings by Sept. 1. He said the president’s legal team will release their “counter report” shortly after so that it is not viewed by some as interfering with the midterm elections in November.

Giuliani said Trump and the legal team are very frustrated with Mueller and what appears to be a never-ending investigation, saying the team believes it is time for the special counsel to put his cards of the table.

“Why don’t you write a report and show us what you have, because they don’t have a g**damn thing,” Giuliani said. “It’s like a guy playing poker. He’s bluffing and he’s only got a pair of twos.”

On Sunday, Trump fired off three explosive tweets sounding off against Mueller for his “witch hunt.” Trump also wrote that Mueller has numerous conflicts of interests, where the president is likely referring to the fact that Mueller was appointed as the special counsel one day after he was interviewed by the president to be the next FBI director.

Trump also lambasted Mueller for hiring a team of lawyers who have contributed to Democrats.

The timing of Trump’s team preparing to compile a counter-report is interesting.

For starters, Giuliani stated that he expects Mueller to release a report detailing his findings regarding Trump by Sept. 1 — which is big news. If true, that means the special counsel is roughly a month away from releasing a final report on whether the special counsel will charge Trump with any crimes.

If Trump is cleared by Mueller, that would deliver a huge blow to many Never-Trumpers and Democrats who have claimed for more than a year that the president is a Russian stooge who only won the election because he colluded with Russia.

And, as pointed out by Giuliani, many want Mueller to conclude his investigation into Trump rather than spreading it over time. It has been a year, and Mueller has not produced any evidence of wrongdoing by Trump.

Perhaps Giuliani is correct that Mueller doesn’t have anything, and he’s finally going to conclude the portion of his investigation into the president.
