Insiders say President Donald Trump is strongly considering blocking abortion providers such as Planned Parenthood from Title X funding, a move that has liberals very worried ahead of crucial midterm elections in November, according to Axios.
The decision would mean that Planned Parenthood and other abortion clinics would be forced to choose between either losing federal funding or ending all abortion referrals. This would be historic and deliver a major victory to pro-life supporters, and it should make liberals very concerned. The issue at hand is not abortion… but whether people who oppose it should have to pay for it.
Title X is a federal grant program that solely provides individuals with comprehensive family planning and related preventive health services. It essentially gives taxpayer money to the largest abortion provider in the US.
Axios reports that White House adviser, Kellyanne Conway, has been the driving force behind the latest push. Insiders say she had a meeting with Trump on Friday at the White House to ensure he honors his campaign promise to slash federal funding for Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers.
Conway and others are pushing for the funding to be redirected to Womens Qualified Health Centers — programs that provide family-planning resources to women, but do not provide abortions.
The move is geared toward rewarding clinics and organizations that provide women with pro-life options.
After Conway spoke about several rallies across the country, she reportedly said it’s very important to many Americans that the administration doesn’t become desensitized to the issue It ranks high among the president’s base supporters.
She not only spoke with Trump about honoring campaign promises to gut Planned Parenthood, she reportedly explained how Trump would go down as the only president in American history to be brave enough to defund the world’s largest abortion provider. That would be a very, very big deal.
Insiders say as November midterm elections near, the administration should stick to hot topic campaign issues that will energize voters. Sources are reportedly telling Trump that with the House of Representatives and Senate in play this year, the administration would be very wise to defund Planned Parenthood.
Of course, it’s much bigger than just a political issue. Trump has been reportedly speaking with top members of the administration and his family about the topic. Axios reports that many are encouraging Trump to follow through on the promise because it is morally, religiously, and ethically the right thing to do. Many agree that the right to life should always be a top priority, but the fact that tax money is given to Planned Parenthood makes it imperative for the president to correct.
White House Political Director Bill Stepien created a data sheet for Trump that shows being pro-life is a top issue in 50-plus House races across the country. This means voters care deeply about the right to life, and they want Trump to slash government funding for Planned Parenthood and other groups that kill innocent babies.
Planned Parenthood claims abortion empowers women, but many find it absolutely sickening. In fact, after people see what it is, they instinctively recoil and reject it. And, it appears Trump is strongly considering making history by becoming the first president to defund the organization.
