Trump Ends Shutdown

Trump Saves Federal Workers: Democrats Immediately Renege

Although the president is being called a coward and spineless, his move saves federal workers, which democrats were heartlessly using, and leaves an option for an national emergency.

Nancy Pelosi thinks she's won, but now federal workers will be paid.

After 35 days, the federal shutdown is over… at least for another couple weeks. In 21 days, the country will be right back where it started because Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer think they’ve won.

In what some have called a “snake” move, as soon as the president backed a three-week continuing resolution that will reopen the government through Feb. 15, these two democrats immediately said there will never be any money for border security.

But President Trump made it clear that he is not out. Democrats used federal workers as a pawn, never voting to allow them to collect pay during the shutdown, despite two bill that would have done it.

Now, Trump has taken the workers out of the equation, and has given democrats one more chance to do the right thing.

“We really have no choice but to build a powerful wall or steel barrier,” Trump said as he concluded remarks from the Rose Garden.

“If we don’t get a fair deal from Congress, the government will either shut down on Feb. 15 again or I will use the powers afforded to me under the laws and the Constitution of the United States to address this emergency,” President Trump added.

The Democrats’ strategy to keep the government closed for as long as possible while accusing President Trump of abandoning employees, apparently worked. But they never once cared about the people they were using.

“This is a very little known fact but it’s very important,” Freshman Texas Representative Dan Crenshaw recently said, adding “Over the last week, we voted twice on a motion to recommit, which would send an appropriations bill back to committee, in order to pay federal workers.”

“Now this is separate from the bipartisan plan to give them back pay,” he continued. “This is two other bills that would actually pay them in real time. This would actually pay them right now.”

It would be reasonable to assume that Democrats would have overwhelmingly supported these initiatives, since they claimed to ‘care’ so much, but they refused.

“The President’s move also fundamentally changes the nature of the border security debate for the next three weeks, as the Democrats can no longer use the misery of federal workers to their own political advantage.”

Pelosi, in hag-like certainty, thinks she has won.

“Have I not been clear on the wall?” Speaker Nancy Pelosi told reporters Friday when one asked if Democrats would continue to object to border security. “I’ve been very clear.”

Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer said, “Democrats are against the wall.”

“Our unity is our power,” Pelosi said. “And that is what maybe the president underestimated.”

The president has outlined what he plans to do. Either there will be money for the barrier, or he will declare a national emergency.

“We’ll work with the Democrats and negotiate, and if we can’t do that, then … obviously we’ll do the emergency because that’s what it is,” the president said. “It’s a national emergency.”

Ultimately, the president has done more than any other, and now we wait… for three weeks to see what happens next.
