Trump Rips FBI Raid On Cohen, Calls It A Disgrace To The Nation

The president tore into the FBI for raiding Cohen's office, saying it was disgraceful.

Trump is not happy about the FBI's raid against his lawyer.

In the immediate aftermath of the FBI raiding Michael Cohen’s office, President Donald Trump said it was a blatant “attack on America,” according to Axios. If the government can seize private communications between attorneys and clients, American juris prudence is dead and this is an attack.

At the beginning of a White House meeting on Monday with U.S. military leaders on a looming decision in Syria, Trump ripped Special Counsel Robert Mueller for giving the Federal Bureau of Investigation a referral to raid Cohen’s office.

Trump called the FBI’s raid of his personal lawyer’s office a “disgraceful situation” and an “attack on our country and what we all stand for.”

Prior to Trump’s meeting with senior military leaders, news broke that Mueller gave a referral to federal prosecutors in Manhattan, New York to obtain a search warrant against Cohen.

The officials seized documents, records, and communications related to a nondisclosure agreement between Cohen and adult film star Stormy Daniels.

Daniels is suing Trump and Cohen over the nondisclosure agreement, where she claims Cohen paid her $130,000 in 2016 to remain quiet about an alleged affair she had with Trump in 2006.

Trump called the FBI raid a witch hunt, and that he has been complying with Mueller’s office for nearly a year.

“They continue to just go forward and here we are talking about Syria, we’re talking about a lot of serious things … and I have this witch hunt constantly going on for over 12 months now. Actually it’s much more than that. You could say right after I won the nomination it started,” Trump said.

Aside from that, the U.S. is preparing to respond to reports that up to 500 people — particularly women and children — were were harmed by a chemical agent attack in Syria.

Trump promised during the meeting Monday that the U.S. would deliver a “forceful” response to the alleged chemical attack.

The president hinted that the U.S. was forging a coalition with French President Emmanuel Macron and other world leaders to carry out a major response to the attack.

Trump truly said it best: while he is trying to deal with a chemical attack against innocent civilians, Mueller and the FBI are carrying out raids and seizing documents completely unrelated to the Russia investigation.
