In a bold move to fight back against the practice of killing millions of innocent babies, President Donald Trump is “laser focused” on overriding former President Barack Obama’s directive to ensure states have more flexibility on dealing with abortion clinics.
The Trump administration will give states more power to cut Medicaid funding to abortion programs like Planned Parenthood and allow them to allocate funding to other projects they deem fit.
After becoming the first sitting president to speak at the March For Life, an anti-abortion organization, assistant secretary of public affairs at the Department of Health and Human Services Charmaine Yoest said the administration had rescinded a scathing directive from former President Barack Obama’s administration.
The Obama directive threatened to charge states with federal crimes if they made any cuts to abortion clinics and used said funds for other needed projects.
We are reinstating flexibility for state Medicaid directors to establish reasonable standards and protect program integrity in their own state programs. It’s essential to protect and defend the prohibition of Medicaid coverage from most abortion procedures. … This is part of the Trump administration’s commitment to rolling back regulations the Obama administration put out to radically favor abortion.
Trump’s order follows the administration’s creation of the Conscience and Religious Freedom Division, a unit created to protect doctors “from being coerced into participating in activities that violate their consciences, such as abortion, sterilization, or assisted suicide.”
Hundreds of thousands of innocent babies are killed each year in the U.S., yet liberals claim there’s nothing wrong with this sick and vile practice.
Trump’s decision to speak at the March For Life coupled with his new directive that protects doctors from being prosecuted for refusing to participate in activities that violate their religion speaks volumes about his commitment to preserving life.
Unlike Obama, Trump wants to reduce governmental overreach and allow states to decide what to do with their own money.
Life in the womb must be protected, and Trump has made it clear, that is a top priority for him.
