The “public relations event” was being carried out by Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff and others, and planned to use military aircraft (and all the expenses that it incurs), but the president nixed the trip while dems were on the bus heading to Andrews Airforce Base… so they were herded off.

“Obviously, if you would like to make your journey by flying commercial, that would certainly be your prerogative,” the president wrote in a letter to Pelosi’s office.
He explained the reasoning, saying “Due to the shutdown, I am sorry to inform you that your trip to Brussels, Egypt and Afghanistan has been postponed. We will reschedule this seven-day excursion when the shutdown is over. In light of the 800,000 great American workers not receiving pay, I am sure you would agree that postponing this public relations event is totally appropriate.”
In 2010, documents uncovered through a FOIA request show that Pelosi racked up over $101,000 of taxpayer dollars for “in-flight services.”
And by “services,” she clearly meant alcohol. On a single receipt, hundreds of dollars were charged. However, that was only the tip of the iceberg for her “in-flight services,” which included food and liquor on Air Force jets, amounting to almost $1,000 per week.
“Documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Act by Judicial Watch, which investigates and prosecutes government corruption, show Pelosi incurred expenses of some $2.1 million for her use of Air Force jets for travel over that time.”
Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo were expected to lead the U.S. delegation in Trump’s place at the World Economic Forum in Devos.
“Out of consideration for the 800,000 great American workers not receiving pay and to ensure his team can assist as needed, President Trump has canceled his delegation’s trip to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland,” Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said.
Mnuchin and Pompeo had planned to jointly speak and host a dinner of the ‘Group of Seven’ foreign and finance ministers to discuss national security and economic issues.
Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross and U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer also planned to be part of the delegation.
In fact, the action was not really the rancorous act the media is trying to portray. Trump’s move infuriated democrats despite the fact that he has full power to make such a decision.
Schiff, who initially made no comment when he was removed from the bus, later said, “I think the president’s decision to disclose a trip the speaker’s making to a war zone was completely and utterly irresponsible in every way,” Schiff said.
Many people wonder how it could “irresponsible” for the president to make a decision that saved possibly millions of dollars.
Republican Congressman Sean Duffy tweeted, “Democrats: Get off the bus and help us secure the border!”
Trump’s letter concluded by asking Pelosi, once again, to negotiate for border security, “I also feel that, during this period, it would be better if you were in Washington negotiating with me and joining the Strong Border Security movement to end the Shutdown.”
Pelosi stated three times yesterday that there will be no money for a wall.
