According to the American News Network, reports have now indicated that an intruder broke into a rural home in Monroe, Washington, before beginning to stab a 75-year-old man.
Luckily, the man’s wife was home and immediately sprang into action to take matters into her own hands. The woman grabbed her gun, walked into the room, and blasted the perpetrator into the next room.
After neutralizing the threat, she called 911. Fortunately, her husband made it to the local Harborview Medical Center and is now in stable condition. Authorities have confirmed that the man who broke in has a long line of criminal history (looks like his rap sheet just ended though).
Police on the scene were quick to confirm that, without a doubt, the reason the woman and her husband are still alive is because of the firearms they keep in their house for home defense.
An investigation is currently ongoing to determine exactly what happened. However, the woman may face charges if she cannot prove self-defense; many criminal defense attorneys effectively use the argument that police should have been called. Clearly, in this case a police call would have resulted in the death of them both (police take several minutes to respond to an attack that can last mere seconds).
If she is charged with murder or reckless manslaughter, it will be a complete disgrace to the constitution and everything that our Second Amendment rights stand for.
