After dedicating her life fighting crime and protecting the streets from thugs, NYPD Officer Miosotis Familia was ambushed and fatally shot by a self-proclaimed cop hater while she was sitting in her patrol car last week in the Bronx. Neighbors described the mother of three as an extraordinary officer and a person with a beautiful heart.

On Tuesday, thousands of police officers gathered at the World Changers Church in The Bronx to lay and honor Familia. It was a moment of respect for an exemplary cop who always showed great commitment for the job. However, someone decided this was a perfect moment to disrespect the officer’s family and the whole NYPD.

As reported by the New York Post, a sixteen-year-old teenager called Julien Rodriguez decided to play the NWA song “F#ck Tha Police!” out of his apartment window, claiming that police officers killed his best friend and his older brother without cause. The kid even said he had a satisfying experience blasting the song during the funeral.

Rodriguez doubled down on his assertion and asked the media outlet why he should show any kind of respect if they did not show it to his brother and his friend. Naturally, this was an uncomfortable, disgusting, and extremely disrespectful situation.

Given this terrible act, about 20 NYPD officers went up to his apartment to ask him to turn off the music. Apparently, one officer even tried speaking Spanish to Rodriguez, explaining he understood what is like growing up Latino in the city and the different kinds of issues this community usually experience.

The kid eventually apologized, but claimed it was only because his landlord threatened to toss him and his family out. Cops at the funeral were infuriated by the blatant show of disrespect, and assured that they have to face these kinds of offensive acts almost every single day.

A man who only gave the name Jesus and identified himself as the apartment’s owner told he was going to throw Rodriguez’s family out. He said that when he heard what was happening he left his job in order to go to the apartment and told them to get out of there.

The apartment’s owner explained that he had been allowing the siblings to stay there for the week, but never imagined they would do something like that. He told this was also extremely disrespectful to him since he assures he feel a deep respect for the police.

Rodriguez told the New York Post he actually feels a lot of sympathy for Familia and the family she left behind, since he always noticed she was only trying to take the bad people off the streets. He also pointed out that her death was something terribly wrong since she did not do anything wrong. Nevertheless, he also assured that just like Familia, his brother and best friend died for no reason.

Officer Familia was killed by Alexander Bonds while she sat in her squad car last week. The murderer was fatally shot by other NYPD officers and it was known for expressing anti-police sentiments in the past.

NYPD Commissioner James O’Neill gave an impassioned speech at Familia’s funeral, which managed to touch the heart of what many officers who are in the line of duty usually feel. O’Neill asked where´s the demonstrations for the mother of three, and why there’s no outrage.

Taking aim at the media and protesters for what he considers as too much criticism of police officers, the NYPD Commissioner said that Familia’s death must remind everyone in America that the civility of every city rests on a knife´s edge.

As reported yesterday, a video of an unnamed NYPD police officer calling out Black Lives Matter and Hollywood celebrities over their silence about Familia’s assassination is going viral. Sitting in his patrol car, the officer voiced his deep frustration with the lack of sympathy and total silence from activist groups and high-profile celebrities over this issue.

Additionally, the NYPD police officer asked why many criminals get praise and sympathy while people like Familia, who gave her life to protect everyone, aren’t given the love and respect they deserve.  He said it is indignant for the police how any criminal that is justifiably shot for breaking the law and threatening people suddenly become heroes and their families get millionaire.

The unnamed officer finishes the video calling activists and celebrities to do the right thing and support the police.
