The U.S. State Department appears to have a problem with President Trump, and the nation of Israel. President Trump fulfilled another campaign promise by moving the U.S. Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem this May, recognizing the city as the capital of Israel.
According to a number of groups, possible “deep state” actors embedded in the State Department have insulted Israel, and silently stabbed Trump in the back, by refusing to recognize Jerusalem as the nation’s capital, and deciding to exclude it on passports for U.S. citizens born in the ancient city.
Daniel Pipes, president of the Middle East Forum believed this to be an attempt by the State Department to, “salvage something from what it considers the wreckage of Trump’s recognition.”
Likewise, the Jewish press reported:
A group of 55 House Republicans sent a letter to U.S. President Donald Trump several weeks ago, urging him to instruct the State Department to permit American citizens born in Jerusalem to list Israel as their birth country on their passport.
“Despite the progress in moving the embassy, the State Department has not yet fully implemented the administration’s policy of recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital for purposes of registration of birth, certification of nationality, or issuance of a passport of a United States citizen born in the city of Jerusalem,” the letter stated.
Most people understand that Democrats and the U.S. State Department have long displayed an animosity towards Israel.
During the 2012 Democrat convention, attendees actually booed the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, when it was brought up for a vote for inclusion in the official party platform.
They also booed the suggestion of including a reference to “God.”
Early in office, President Obama famously insulted Israel’s leader, Benjamin Netanyahu and his staff by leaving them stewing for an hour or so before an important meeting. He reportedly tossed the Prime Minister a list of thirteen demands at a meeting, then exited abruptly to linger over a private meal.
On occasion, Obama refused to meet with the United States’ chief ally in the Middle East at all.
Obama also insulted Israel by releasing a photo of himself in a phone conversation with Netanyahu.
The photo showed a serious Obama with his feet on the Oval Office desk, showing the soles of his shoes to the Prime minister of the tiny state. Besides displaying an obvious disrespect for the office of the presidency, presenting the bottom of his shoes was considered by many to be a huge cultural insult.
Israel’s newspaper Haaretz characterized the incident as an intentional insult.
“A photo released by the White House, which shows Obama talking on the phone with Netanyahu on Monday, speaks volumes: The president is seen with his legs up on the table, his face stern and his fist clenched, as though he were dictating to Netanyahu…Obama surely knows there is no greater insult in the Middle East than pointing the soles of one’s shoes at another person. Indeed, photos of other presidential phone calls depict Obama leaning on his desk, with his feet on the floor,” the article stated.
The State Department has also slighted the nation of Israel.
After the Babylonian exile some 2600 years ago, Jews had grown to be the largest minority in Iraq. They built a thriving community in the country that over the centuries had collected a large number of historical and cultural artifacts.
After 1940, the Iraqi government began a campaign of harassment and killings targeting the Jews, and by 1951, three fourths of the Jewish people had fled the country.
By 2003, when the U.S. toppled the regime of Saddam Hussein, only a few dozen Jews remained, and today there are none.
In 2003 U.S. forces rescued the “Jewish Archives,” a collection of Babylonian Jewish history, culture, and religious writing from the basement of the Iraqi secret services headquarters. The documents numbered in the tens of thousands, and included sacred texts, school records, and more.
This treasure trove of Jewish culture had been confiscated and looted from the Iraqi Jewish community, which no longer exists, yet the State Department has determined to return these items to Iraq, rather than Israel.
Some suspect the State Department, recently controlled by Hillary Clinton, was loaded with Democrats whose loyalty lies with the “deep state,” rather than the people of the United States.
Indeed, Project Veritas has recently released video showing a State Department official admitting to “resisting” President Trump and his agenda, smirking over misusing his work hours to promote Socialism, and bragging he had nothing to lose.
The State Department seems to be resisting again. They refuse to list Jerusalem as “Jerusalem, Israel.”
According to cultural groups, this looked like a rebellion against the President, and yet another way to disrespect the nation of Israel.
“It is deeply frustrating that the State Department ignores the fact that Jerusalem is never mentioned in the Koran; Arabs face Mecca when they pray, Jews face Jerusalem,” said Zionist Organization of America president Mort Klein. “It has never been the capital of any country except Israel. Jerusalem became a slum when under Arab control from 1948-67, and no Arab leader except King Hussein visited Jerusalem during that time.”
“It has been Jerusalem, Israel, for thousands of years according to God, U.S. law and history, but not according to the State Department,” he continued. “Where is [Secretary of State Mike] Pompeo on this? Shameful appeasement.”
Even though the Department recognized that Trump, “recognized Jerusalem as the capital of the state of Israel,” official David Satterfield said there had been, “no change in our policy with respect to consular practice or passport issuance at this time.”
The Bible clearly detailed Jewish ownership of Jerusalem, and included a “deed” that records King David purchasing the site known as the “Temple Mount.” The president of the United States has fulfilled a campaign promise to recognize Israel’s ownership of Jerusalem, and has moved the U.S. Embassy to Israel’s capital.
Sarah Stern, founder and president of the Endowment for Middle East Truth, said “this is inconsistent with his previous message, declaring that ‘Israel, like any other sovereign nation, should have their right to determine its own capital.’ Why should Jewish babies born in Jerusalem continue to remain stateless?”
Yet, in the eyes of the State department, Jerusalem seems to have no home.
