The ongoing feud between San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz and President Trump has given liberals a new source of ammunition. Short of the First Lady’s shoe “scandal” after Harvey, the left has not been able to find much to criticize with the president’s response to the multiple natural disasters. Then Cruz began accusing the president of abandoning the hard-hit islands and liberals rejoiced and quickly joined the assault. Now they may have to go back to pouting.
The mayor of Guaynabo, Puerto Rico has come forward to share the truth, “I don’t know why she is saying that. What I can tell you is my experience. She is not participating in any meetings…”
Mayor Angel Perez spoke with Daily Caller reporters and stated that what Cruz is saying doesn’t make sense based on what he is seeing from the federal government;
“My experience is different. I have been participating in different meetings at the headquarters of FEMA and our government and the help is coming in and right now my experience is different from hers.”
The Mayor of San Juan, who was very complimentary only a few days ago, has now been told by the Democrats that you must be nasty to Trump.

Cruz’s comments included, “We are dying, and you are killing us with the inefficiency, and the bureaucracy. I am done being politically correct. I am mad as hell.” This was sudden and in direct conflict with Governor Ricardo Rossello’s statements. He has praised President Trump and the administration;
“I have to say that the administration has responded to our petitions. FEMA, Brock Long, has been on the phone virtually all the time with me, checking out how things are going.”
During a press conference on Friday Cruz demanded the president do more and that if he doesn’t, “we are going to see is something close to a genocide.”
Perez further stated;
“I’m receiving help from the government, we are receiving assistance from FEMA, I got people over here helping us with applications for the people that have damage in their houses. And we have here in Guaynabo, we have thousands of people that lost partially or totally their houses.”
Both Perez and the governor seem to believe the fault lies with Cruz. Mayor Perez stated;
“She is not participating in any meetings and we had a couple already with the governors and with representation of FEMA and of HUD, of these whole federal agencies that have given us help and she’s not participating in those meetings and some mayors from her political party have been participating, so I don’t know why she is saying that.”
With mounting evidence that President Trump is doing exactly what is needed, it certainly appears that Cruz will not be getting any support from other lawmakers in her area.
