Two senior FBI officials who reviewed the four-page FISA abuse memo from the House Intelligence Committee said they “could not point to any factual inaccuracies.”
After FBI Director Christopher Wray read the memo Sunday in private on Capitol Hill, the two sources told Fox News that the documents didn’t reveal any information that had not been corroborated.
On Monday, the House committee voted in favor of releasing the controversial memo detailing how former President Barack Obama’s administration — primarily the FBI and Justice Department — abused their power to spy on President Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.
Top Democrat California Rep. Adam Schiff called it a “very sad day” when the committee voted to release the memo to the public, which speaks volumes about the severity of the corruption that will likely be uncovered.
The president has five days starting Tuesday to review the document, but he has admitted on numerous occasions that he will release the memo for all Americans to see.
In a Jan. 24 letter, Assistant Attorney General Stephen E. Boyd wrote that releasing the memo would be “unprecedented” and “reckless.”
But after DOJ officials reviewed the memo on Monday, one day after Wray, the agency has indicated the term “reckless” is now “moot” given top DOJ and FBI officials have reviewed the document and cannot identify any factual errors.
The memo reportedly details how the Obama administration used the Steele dossier — which former Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign and the Democratic National Committee paid more than $9 million to fund — to obtain a warrant under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act to spy on Trump’s campaign.
The sources told Fox News that both the FBI and DOJ “fought tooth and nail” for nearly a year to prevent Congress from gaining access to the surveillance-related records they wanted to keep hidden.
The Obama administration abused its power to launch a phony Russia investigation against Trump, and Democrats are petrified that the American people are within a week of seeing his bombshell memo exposing it all.
