SCOTUS Decides On Hearing Border Wall ‘Environment’ Case

The Supreme Court has rejected to hear environmental groups’ challenge to the border wall, and will allow the rejection to stand.

The Supreme court will not hear an environmental case against the border wall construction.

Environmental groups hoping to stop the construction of a Border Wall using the courts were disappointed yesterday when the Supreme Court said it would not hear the case.

The complaint, which had already been struck down in a lower court, claimed that a border wall would endanger threatened species and violate environmental laws.

For the most part, these tree-huggers can thank Bill Clinton, not President Trump, who signed into law a measure that allows the executive branch of the government to “waive environmental laws if those laws impede construction of barriers and roads near the border.”

The law was expanded by Congress in 2005, giving the Department of Homeland Security authority to waive “all legal requirements” that could stand in the way of border construction and protection.

The environmental groups argued that the government’s ability to waive the laws is unconstitutional, but the SCOTUS didn’t see it that way.

Now, the San Diego ruling will remain in place.

The Animal Legal Defense Fund, Defenders of Wildlife and Center for Biological Diversity were supported in the fight by nine House democrats and The Cato Institute.

President Trump has continued to fight to ensure a wall along the southern border is funded in the next budget.

And, congressional leaders introduced a two-week funding bill Monday to avert a partial government shutdown over the border wall.

The stopgap measure keeps the government funded through Dec. 21, but President Trump agreed to it, in part, because of the death of George HW Bush.

“We would save Billions of Dollars if the Democrats would give us the votes to build the Wall,” Trump tweeted Monday. “Either way, people will NOT be allowed into our Country illegally! We will close the entire Southern Border if necessary.”

The costs of illegal immigration are astronomical, including the cost of welfare, ICE agencies, and more.

Democrats have little interest in providing the $5 billion for the southern border (four billion less than charged democrats donor got in 2012), but the president has never demonstrated weakness, and many people recognize that with all of the promises he’s already kept, this one will happen, whether democrats like it or not.
