The signs of socialism’s failures are beginning to manifest themselves in unique but expected and preventable ways. Many liberals in the country dream of a world where no one has to work and yet everyone has enough money to do whatever they want with it. They hope to achieve this “utopia” by increasing wages and demanding a uniform healthcare, however these demands have costs. Now residents of San Francisco are realizing the error of their ways due to the amount of formerly affordable small restaurants going out of business, and they’re NOT happy.
One of San Francisco’s major attractions is the gourmet food that can be found for reasonable prices around the city. The city has had a wonderful blend of cultures and food throughout it’s time and this had made for a creative and competitive market that use to allow small restaurants to thrive. Unfortunately, due to the demagogic language used by Democrats in the states, citizens of San Francisco were unaware that socialist policies would be the demise of delicious affordable food.
Democratic lawmakers and politicians would love to convince everyone in the nation that raising the minimum wage would solve all of their problems and that socialized medicine is completely functional for small businesses. In reality, these policies are the death of businesses that make this country great. Small businesses that offer people the chance to have the American Dream are being systematically stomped out thanks to failed Marxist policies that would in fact protect the rich while harming the poor.
If restaurants are soon going to be unable to hire, let alone survive themselves, than there will be no where left to work for those without skills, the demographic that usually advocates the loudest for social policies.
The small restaurants that thrived in small spaces with small staffs serving gourmet food for competitive prices are no longer financially viable. This is due to increasing rents, the drastic minimum wage increase, and the high costs associated with Obamacare. These were all policies that conservatives warned liberals of but they failed to look far enough into the future to see their favorite restaurants close. Anyone who would tell someone that raising the minimum wage is actually bad for workers was called a bigot and a racist for simply disagreeing with liberal talking points.
Reports are showing that even a $1 wage increase to the salaries of small restaurant employees could mean a difference of $20,000 to the net profit seen by restaurant owners, but liberals are hoping to increase it by $5. Needless to say, raising the minimum wage even further than it is now is only going to continue hurting the small restaurants that attracted so many to San Francisco.
Restaurant owners are some of the hardest working people in the country as the amount of organization, preparation, and overall work it takes to make a restaurant succeed is tremendous compared to the payoffs.
It is one of the most challenging and physically exhausting industries in the country as the service industry strides to provide food and service to those with the money. The restaurants that are closing in San Francisco have been doing something incredible in their existence by balancing gourmet with moderately priced items but now they are rewarded by having smaller and smaller profit margins that make the practice not worthwhile to the restaurant owners.
It is difficult enough to make rent in some of the key districts of San Francisco but now the socialist policies forcing a wage increase should probably have Democrats across the state reconsidering their personal ideologies. Now these hard working Americans are being forced to close their doors because it is simply too much to have to pay for all of these socialist policies.
San Francisco fell for the bait that socialism represents without realizing that some of the city’s greatest attractions would be forced to close their doors. These restaurants thrive because they encompass a unique quality that few areas in the country are able to pull off. They fall right in the middle of a competitive market that has made its name by offering superb food at average pricing, thus giving citizens of the city the chance to refine their pallets with a low cost.
Despite obvious signs that social policies are crippling to small businesses, liberals in the state will still call for a higher minimum wage and socialized medicine.
