New York Senate Democratic Socialist candidate, Julia Salazar, appears to have taken a page from Elizabeth Warren‘s (D-MA) book by claiming a false heritage. But now that she’s been busted lying about her background, she is playing the race card, saying that checking on her claim about being an immigrant and Jewish was racist.
Fox News has confirmed Salazar “falsified her biography, including claims about being an immigrant and Jewish.” Her past works show that she was an advocate for Christian conservatism, as a matter of fact. This candidate, with alleged ties to the Democratic Socialists of America, has an “endorsement from the New York governor candidate Cynthia Nixon” and is thought to be someone who can move the party further left.
Much like popular Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, she was a rising star until Tablet exposed a few things. For starters, this wily candidate told many news organizations that she hailed from Columbia and that her family immigrated here when she was quite young.
She also claimed that her father “was Jewish but the family had little contact with the American Jewish community,” once they arrived in the United States. “I immigrated to this country with my family when I was very little. In Colombia, my mom raised me as a single mother,” she said on the campaign trail.
Salazar also said on her website, “As a proud immigrant myself, I know how important it is to protect the rights of immigrants and ensure that everyone can fully participate in the life of New York State.”
Now, the sentence reads: “as a proud daughter of an immigrant father myself.” Hmmm…why could that be?
According to Tablet, it is because she is not an immigrant.
It has been established that this likely liar “was born in Miami and her mother had U.S. citizenship.” Considering that she could one day run for president (“God forbid“, some would say) if she was born in the U.S., this wasn’t even a very wise lie to craft for such a short-term gain.
The source confirming this is her brother, Alex Salazar. He admitted to the media that they were born in the U.S.A.
Blaming a “campaign staffer” for the web page error, the socialist claimed that she “made it crystal clear that I had been born in Miami.” However, a video of her talking seems to show quite the polar opposite.
As for the Jewish blood that is to be coursing through her veins, it has been discovered that “her father’s 2009 funeral service notes that the service was held in a Catholic Church in Florida.”
Her brother told reporters, “There was nobody in our immediate family who was Jewish … my father was not Jewish, we were not raised Jewish,” he said.
Alex Salazar also added, “that one of their father’s brothers was a Jesuit priest.”
Ms. Salazar declared that asking for the truth is part of “a long history of bigoted policing of the identity of Jewish people of color, particularly people with patrilineal Jewish heritage or Jews who converted. I’m sad to see that brought into my campaign.”
During her time in college, another outlet found her claiming that it was her mother what was Jewish. In that version of her life, “her mother’s family was from Israel and [she described] herself as a descendant of Christian Israelis.”
Then again…maybe it was her grandfather who really was Jewish. After all, yet the third telling of her story claims that “her grandfather moved from Mandatory Palestine to Colombia 10 years before the state of Israel was founded.” At least “Pochahantas” sticks to one story.
Those close to the candidate say that she “had undergone conversion to conservative Judaism in just two months,” but is a process that usually takes far longer.
She appeared only back in 2012 on Glenn Beck’s show and said that “there are probably several” professors at the Columbia University who were guilty of “using the classroom as their podium to spread lies about the State of Israel, to delegitimize the State of Israel, and to spread propaganda to Columbia students.”
The hard left does have people of faith, such as Bernie Sanders (I-VT). While many things can be said against the man, it would seem that his Jewish faith is quite sincere. Therefore, Salazar could be said to be slandering the race of the most popular person that her own party has just to pick up a few votes.
This just can’t bode well for her.
