Fake news today is as common as the winter cold, and this is causing many problems. The biggest one is that when high-ranking officials and people of importance give interviews that appear to reveal something massive, no one knows if it is real or not. Such people are not prone to give a large number of interviews either, further complicating the process of news vetting.
Therefore, when someone called a “Russian military expert” says that they have nuclear weapons planted into the ocean’s floor off of the coast of America, no one knows for sure if it is true or not. In this case, that “Russian military expert” would be Viktor Baranetz, a former colonel and defense ministry spokesman,
Zero Hedge reports that, while discussing “asymmetrical responses” to the United States rebuilding their military, Baranetz told the Russian Komsomolskaya Pravda, according to The Middle East Media Research Institute report, that Russia is “quietly ‘seeding’ the U.S. shoreline with nuclear ‘mole’ missiles” that “dig themselves in and ‘sleep’ until they are given the command” to detonate.”
This is incredibly alarming for a number of reasons. To begin with, we know that on the Fourth of July in 2015, Russian planes were seen only 40 miles from the U.S. coastline. This happened only hours after Putin mockingly wished Obama a happy holiday. There are a great number of instances where Russia has been seen with either their planes, submarines, or both in American waters. Obama seemed to write this off as nothing more than them showing anger about NATO on their border. It may have been what Baranetz claims instead, a situation that would put everyone in America, and the world, on a firm footing for the last war, if it is true.
From the article “Our Asymmetrical Response Is Nuclear Warheads,” we learn that Russia has plans to deal with the fact that at $600 billion, America spends a full ten times more on defense and warfare preparation that they do. Beranetz says that “if we add together the military budgets of the top ten countries in the world, they would not reach the American budget.” For him, the fact that America is rich enough to protect itself from Russia as they threaten war is something that America should feel badly about.
With what President Trump is adding to the coffers, Beranetz says, “This money would be enough to maintain five Polish armies. Or 10 Ukrainian ones.” In saying that, he only proves President Trump correct in that the Ukrainian army has done a dismal job of restraining nearly every instance to which they were called for.
Even with a 51 percent (plus) approval rating that President Trump currently enjoys, the retired Russian says that Americans are “grumbling” about Trump and that the president prefers “guns to butter.” Meanwhile, it has been Putin who has been on our shores, engaging our ships, allowing China to park nuclear weapons pointed at the U.S. on their border, and siding with U.S. enemies that have caused this military build up.
Perhaps Beranetz is just trying to put fear and uncertainty in the leadership of the U.S. However, he is reported to have cryptically said, “Russia will not compete with the U.S. in defense expenditure. We are in a different weight class. For us, the main question is how to ensure Russia’s defense at a lower cost. I am sure that we have already found asymmetrical responses. I don’t see a big problem here.” This means that they have not been “showing muscle,” but sizing up our defenses in hopes of finding a way to destroy the U.S. if they decide to.
He goes on with the threatening tone by saying, “Our asymmetrical response is nuclear warheads that can modify their course and height so that no computer can calculate their trajectory. Or, for example, the Americans are deploying their tanks, airplanes and special forces battalions along the Russian border. And we are quietly ‘seeding’ the U.S. shoreline with nuclear ‘mole’ missiles (they dig themselves in and ‘sleep’ until they are given the command).”
He then continues, saying, “Oh, it seems I’ve said too much. I should hold my tongue,” before making folly of Trump being called a good businessman. If this is true, we have someone high up within the Russian structure who is making jest of weapons, which would kill millions of innocent people. He is all but LAUGHING about nuclear war, radiation fallout, and unspeakable acts of mass murder. Though he is said to be retired, if this is the kind of madmen that are running the nuclear weapons program in Russia, the world is in far more danger than it had previously imagined.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said the claims are untrue, but with Russia proving to be so very unpredictable, it’s unknown if they are telling the truth. The last bit of terror on the topic comes from Zero Hedge who observed that it makes Americans “wonder what the Russian spy ship was doing just 30 miles from America’s “primary East Coast Sub base a month ago.”
That may just prove the understatement of the year. If Russia has done this, the outrage response could easily burst into reality before clearer heads can remove them. Who would trust Russia to remove them if even if they offered to do so? If this is not CNN style fake news, which hopefully it is, then the whole world needs to drop everything else for a moment and take a good hard look at Russia. If not, then there may not be a world left to do so.
