Ahead of Congressional lawmakers likely releasing the four-page memo alleging major corruption and abuse of power by former President Barack Obama’s FBI, Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., provided some clues about what the memo contains.
During an interview Sunday on Fox News, Gowdy covertly posed several questions to host Chris Wallace and viewers to offer insight into what the memo reportedly details and exposes.
“If you think your viewers want to know whether or not the dossier was used in court proceedings, whether or not it was vetted before it was used, whether or not it’s ever been vetted — if you are interested in who paid for the dossier, if you are interested in Christopher Steele’s relationship with Hillary Clinton and the Democratic National Committee, then, yes, you will want the memo to come out,” Gowdy said.
“Do you want to know that the Democratic National Committee paid for material that was never vetted, that was included in a court proceeding?”, he asked. “Do you want to know whether or not the primary source in these court proceedings had a bias against one candidate? Do you want to know whether or not he said he’d do anything to keep that candidate from becoming president?”
The House Intelligence Committee, which has a Republican majority, is expected to vote on Monday to determine whether the memo will be released to the public.
Many believe it will be released this week, especially given President Donald Trump has indicated he wants the memo released to the public.
Gowdy said the memo details how Obama’s DOJ and FBI used the dossier to obtain a warrant under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act to spy on Trump and his 2016 presidential campaign.
The left-wing firm Fusion GPS hired former British spy Christopher Steele in late 2015 to compile the dossier, which was full of slanderous claims that the FBI admitted it couldn’t verify or corroborate.
And Gowdy believes the American people should have access to what he suggested was the biggest scandal in political history.
Releasing the memo will show how far Obama and his allies went to derail Trump’s presidency.
