A Nebraska man was sentenced to four years in jail after he tortured his neighbors with his freakish thrills. The Douglas County District Court sentenced 45-year-old Douglas Goldsberry of Elkhorn after he plead no contest to sending prostitutes to his neighbor’s house approximately 30 times a year for four years.
The hired hookers would strip on the porch while Goldsberry watched and masturbated. Then the naked prostitutes would try to enter the home and demand payment, often waking the couple’s two grade school aged children.
The family reported that women had shown up as many as 75 times since 2013, exposing themselves and occasionally kicking the door and yelling for payment. Of course, Goldberry didn’t want to pay, he just wanted control over these hired prostitutes.
“It’s a really twisted and sick plot,” said Deputy Douglas County Attorney Chad Brown, adding that Goldsberry called it “a screening process.”
“He derived pleasure out of how far he could control these women to see how far he could get them to go,” he added.
Four years is the maximum penalty for pandering, but because Nebraska has state guidelines that immediately cut sentences in half, the perverted man will only serve 24 months for the four years of harassment. Plus, he’ll get credit for the 177 days he’s already served in jail.
“I have concerns for the safety of women, taxpayers and everyone else in Douglas County,” Brown said when asking Judge Marlon Polk for the maximum sentence. “The state’s concern is fueled by his deviant, narcissistic appetite for his sexual desires.”
However, Nathan Lab, Goldberry’s attorney argued that he be freed on probation so that he could “get treatment.”
It all started when the family contacted the Sheriff’s Office and investigators came to the home. The couple explained that they were fearful because women identifying themselves as escorts or prostitutes were exposing themselves and then demanding money. The complaint said that one women actually urinated on the family’s bushes.
Surveillance was conducted and deputies were able to bring in two women who were caught in the act. Investigators were then able to use phone records to track Goldberry, who the women said told them to perform those acts so that he would know they weren’t undercover officers.
Goldberry confessed his yucky actions. He explained to investigators that he would watch the women and take pictures while they exposed themselves. He also admitted to soliciting the prostitutes through a website, which was fortunate, because digital forensics experts were able to find more evidence that could actually put this perverted man behind bars for years.
When the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office looked at the computer, they found child pornography on the hard drives. Goldberry has now been indicted for one count of possession, which carries a 20 year maximum sentence.
“I have concerns for the safety of women, taxpayers and everyone else in Douglas County,” Brown said when he requested Judge Marlon Polk deliver the maximum sentence. “The state’s concern is fueled by his deviant, narcissistic appetite for his sexual desires.”
Goldberry was not convicted of disturbing the peace or soliciting prostitutes. He should consider himself fortunate that he was given such a light sentence. Many people believe that exposing children to that sort of disgusting behavior should have warranted a much heavier sentence. Hopefully, the state will be able to prove the child pornography charges and Goldberry will get his much needed punishment and “treatment” behind bars.
