Portland Police Refused To Assist ICE Agents Who Called For Help

Portland police refused to respond to at least two 911 emergency calls from ICE employees inside their offices where violent protesters held demonstrations.

ICE officials weren't given any help from local police.

Police in Portland, Oregon refused to respond to at least two emergency calls from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement employees two weeks ago after a mob of angry demonstrators blocked them inside their building. According to The Daily Caller, the ICE officials were inside their Portland office as rioters outside had taken part in a week-long protest.

The report raises a bevy of serious questions, many of which center around why police officers refused to help ICE officials who were asking for help containing a large group of ‘protestors,’ who they reported were violent. The chilling report has also led many to believe that laws are not being enforced in Portland, and rioting thugs are allowed to take over and attack federal officers without any recourse. Calling these people ‘terrorists’ simply follows the definition, according to some conservatives. They use violence to promote a political cause, and apparently, that’s fine with the democrat controlled town.

The National Immigration and Customs Enforcement Council, a union representing ICE officials, sent a cease-and-desist letter to Democrat Mayor Ted Wheeler on Sunday, requesting that he allow police to protect order and peace following the massive protest.

“Your current policy forbidding Portland law enforcement agencies from assisting employees of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency who request law enforcement assistance while at or away from work is a violation of the United States Constitution’s Equal Protection Clause,” the letter states.

Demonstrators — some of which are connected to Antifa, a far-left group many have referred to as a domestic terrorist organization — set up several tents outside of ICE offices in the area. After they set up a city of tents, the demonstrators reportedly became very violent and confrontational with ICE agents.

At one point during the week-long demonstration, the ICE agents were trapped inside their building and could not leave because the mob of protestors blocked them in and would not let them leave.

When the agents called Portland police at least twice, their calls were never answered because Wheeler recently signed policy stating that the city will not have any ties to the federal immigration agency.

The activists forced ICE to shut down the Portland office between June 20, and July 3, according to The Daily Caller.

The ‘protestors’ reportedly infected and damaged so much in the city that Wheeler referred to it as a “biohazard.”

Many will find it deeply disturbing that Wheeler signed a measure that barred the city from working with ICE.

It’s also concerning to many that the Portland police refused to respond to at least two emergency phone calls from federal immigration officials who had a mob of violent attackers blocking them in their building.

This is another scathing example of how far some liberals are willing to go to show their opposition to the Trump administration.
