Project Veritas has released an undercover video exposing Twitter for their policies, written and unwritten, which target conservative and right-wing users. Praynay Singh, Direct messaging engineer for Twitter, said when figuring out who gets banned from twitter, “You look for Trump, or America, or any of, like, five thousand, like, keywords to describe a redneck.” Twitter actively targets those who do not espouse their liberal ideology, contrary to what their mission statement proclaims, which is to “Give everyone the power to create and share ideas and information instantly without barriers.”

Twitter is an abusive organization that bans right of center groups as well as anyone it considers associated with the Alt-Right, such as the League of the South and American Renaissance. Shadow banning practices are widespread, without anyone knowing about it. The founder of American Renaissance had his verification removed although there was no real question that Jared Taylor was who he claimed to be, the same happened to others in the movement such as Richard Spencer. Twitter bans are an effort to silence the peaceful dissent taking place in American politics.

Olinda Hassan, Policy Manager, Twitter Trust and Safety, said “We’re trying to get the shitty people to not show up. It’s a product thing we’re working on.” Mo Norai, a former content review agent for Twitter said it works like this, “…if it was a pro-Trump thing and I am anti-Trump, I was like, I banned his whole account. It goes to you and then it’s at your discretion. And if you’re anti-Trump, you’re like, oh you know what, Mo was right, F**k it, let it go.” That is how the moderators operated, with abandon.

Twitter would also employ a technique known as shadow banning. Former Twitter software engineer, Abhinav Vadrevu, explained, “The idea of a shadow ban is that you ban someone but they don’t know that they’ve been banned, because they keep posting but no one sees their content. So they just think no one is engaging with their content, when in reality, no one is seeing it.” Twitter employed this practice when they knew the grounds for a real ban were shaky or outright out of line.

Vadrevu continued, “It’s a lot of bad press if, like, people figure out that your like shadow banning them. It’s like, unethical in some way.” This if further evidence that the moderators at Twitter know what they are doing is unethical, but continue to practice the unscrupulous policies regardless. According to former Twitter engineers the algorithms used to filter out content are heavily biased against republicans and conservatives.

Twitters policies are vague and their method of enforcement is at the discretion of the moderators they employ to filter through content. This has led to the wide-spread abuse that Project Veritas has uncovered. This most recent video is just the tip of the ice-burg and Project Veritas plans to release more undercover videos exposing Twitters left wing activism in the coming days.

Project Veritas goes undercover and infiltrates large companies suspected of corruption or dishonesty. They have targeted figure heads such as Al Sharpton and organizations such as teachers unions, even news outlets such as the Washington post have been hit with an undercover investigation. They largely seek to hold people, companies, and organizations accountable for engaging in unethical and poor practices.

Twitters senior network security engineer, Clay Haynes said, “I’m a bleeding-heart liberal. I think it comes with the territory…If we let this maniac (President Trump) continue we would have a hard time finding another job…I don’t like being part of the machine that is contributing to America’s downfall.” From the senior staff down, Twitter has taken issue with the Trump administration. “Twitter was about 90% anti-Trump, maybe 99% anti-Trump.”-Mo Norai

Twitter has long been suspected of having an extremely liberal bias and to have been engaged in the practices exposed, however, the vindication from Project Veritas is still nice. Liberals have gone to extreme lengths to silence conservatives and those with dissenting opinions because their arguments will not hold up to even modest scrutiny from the right.

The platform Twitter is very important because President Trump often uses the social media giant to convey messages to the American people. It has taken huge credibility hits with its recent mass censorship campaign at the behest of “bleeding-heart liberals.”
