Earlier this week, William Hanson, an 18-year-old man living in Prescott, Arizona, was arrested after being found naked and incoherent hiding inside a stranger’s home. Upon being taken into custody, he reportedly told police that he freaked out after licking a tab of acid.
Shortly after his arrest, Dwight D’Evelyn, the Media Relations Coordinator for the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO), provided reporters with additional details. Specifically, she explained that deputies, who were responding to a call they received at about 11 PM about a man seen running from a vehicle that was abandoned in the middle of the street, “found a blue 2004 Chevrolet truck in the roadway with the ignition keys still intact, the engine off and the transmission in drive.”
The officers then proceeded to search the vehicle. Inside, they found Hanson’s wallet and “several items of paraphernalia with cannabis residue.” However, when they looked up the car’s information, they learned that he was not its registered owner. Upon making this discovery, they decided to reach out to the vehicle’s registered owner. “Deputies contacted the registered owner of the vehicle by phone who explained that his son, William Hanson, had been given permission to use the vehicle around 4 PM,” explained D’Evelyn.
As they worked to figure out what was going on, a second call came in about a naked man found inside a bedroom of a nearby home. The homeowners found him there after they heard banging noises coming from the room. He apparently entered the house through an unlocked door. According to the officers, when they arrived to pick him up, he was absolutely incoherent in addition to being completely nude.
Concerned, they transported him to a local hospital. The next day, he was released from the hospital and taken into police custody, where he was questioned about what happened. “He admitted licking an acid tab along with his female passenger while parked in an area near Granite Basin,” reported D’Evelyn. “Hanson could not recall any events following the ingestion, including the circumstances occurring after he abandoned the truck,” she added.
Following his confession, he was arrested and sent to the Camp Verde Detention Center but was released a short time later on a $4,000 bond. He’s currently facing charges of “possession of a dangerous drug, possession of drug paraphernalia, trespassing, and DUI with drugs.”
In addition to Hanson, the female passenger, who was also questioned by police, was also arrested after she confessed to ingesting acid with him. When asked about what charges she’s facing, D’Evelyn replied, “charges against her will be submitted to juvenile authorities for review.”
Hanson is not the only person to be recently arrested after being found naked inside someone else’s home. Specifically, Michelle Watkins, a 33-year-old woman from Junction City, California, was also taken into custody earlier this week after she too was found naked inside a stranger’s home in Anderson, California.
According to reports, she allegedly broke into the house, made herself a sandwich, drank some beer, stole his cigarettes, took a shower, and then fell asleep in the homeowner’s bedroom. By the time local police arrived at the house, she was fully clothed, sitting in a chair on the front porch. They placed her in handcuffs and took her to jail on suspicion of “residential burglary, petty theft, and possession of stolen property.”
In addition to Hanson and Watkins, Orion Krause, a 22-year-old man living in Massachusetts, was also arrested after he showed up naked to his neighbors’ house and told them that he murdered his mother, two grandparents, and their caretaker. Upon searching his home, investigators confirmed that there were indeed four dead bodies. All of them were reportedly killed by blunt force trauma. Police claim they have the murder weapon, but as of now, they haven’t revealed what it is. His motive is also currently unknown and it’s unclear whether or not he was under the influence of drugs.
Clearly, nudity is one of the many unusual things that police officers have to deal with on a regular basis. Usually, as seen with Hanson, it’s associated with the consumption of illicit drugs.
