Mayor Taking Guns?

Pittsburgh Mayor Doubles Down On Firearm Confiscation, New Gun Bans

In addition to pushing firearm confiscation, Mayor Peduto is urging bans on commonly owned semi-automatics and ‘high capacity’ magazines.

Mayor Peduto is using a tragedy to further gun confiscation and other firearm bans.

Following the attack at the Tree of Life Synagogue, Pittsburgh Mayor William Peduto voiced opposition to hiring armed guards to protect worshipers in the security- and gun-free synagogue.

Eleven people were killed when a gunman targeted the worshipers, with no one to defend them.

Peduto has an answer though, he wants to create gun confiscation orders, outlaw commonly-owned semiautomatic firearms, and ban “high capacity” magazines and bump stocks.

It seems like many liberals always want to remove the ability of self-defense as a means of reducing crime.

However, Peduto’s plans have two very glaring idiocies:

First, his ideas wouldn’t stop another shooting from happening, because studies confirm that the biggest factor in a mass shooting is not the weapon, it’s the amount of time an attacker has before someone fires back.

“For example, while the Democrat Party and gun control groups focused on the type of gun used in the Parkland shooting, they overlooked the fact that the Parkland gunman has so much time that he was able to pause five times and reload during the attack. There was not pressure because no one could shoot back.”

Moreover, the “Sandy Hook attacker had over nine minutes without armed resistance when he struck that gun-free school.”

The second difficulty for Peduto is Pennsylvania’s preemption law, which makes it illegal for a municipality to pass gun controls that exceed controls at the state level.

The NRA-ILA published the text of PA’s preemption law: “No county, municipality or township may in any manner regulate the lawful ownership, possession, transfer or transportation of firearms, ammunition or ammunition components when carried or transported for purposes not prohibited by the laws of this Commonwealth.”

There’s also another interesting fact that Peduto seems ignorant of: A recent study published in the Journal of the American College of Surgeons shows that an increase of concealed carry holders does not increase gun deaths.

What Mayor Peduto is doing, many people agree, is exploiting a tragedy, which could have been prevented by armed security, so that he can further the democrat agenda of complete confiscation of all firearms.

An unarmed population is slaves, something that democrats have understood for centuries.
