After giving them $1.7 billion in cash on pallets and bragging about propping up the terrorist-supporting regime, former President Obama was an absolute failure in dealing with Iran.
During an interview Tuesday on CNN, former Central Intelligence Agency Director and Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta admitted that Obama failed to support the Iranian people’s anti-government protests in 2009.
CNN host Jake Tapper asked Panetta, who was the CIA director at the time, if he believes Obama did the right thing at the time by refusing to support the Iranian people over the corrupt regime.
“Well, I remember that — that movement. It was a much larger protest than what we’re having today. It was based on the Green Party and what happened in the election then. I do think that was an appropriate time for the United States to have sent a clearer message that we stand by those who try to represent the rights of people,” Panetta said.
He continued: “That’s what the United States is all about. And it would have been important to have sent that message at the time.”
Panetta was referring to the Green Revolution, where Obama refused to comment for several days as the Iranian people revolted against the regime.
Obama only made public statements in support of the anti-regime demonstrators after he was scolded for standing idle during a crucial moment.
As noted by Breitbart, Obama’s Secretary of Defense at the time, Robert Gates, has also admitted publicly that Obama failed miserably in 2009 when the Iranian people were standing up for basic freedoms.
Conversely, President Trump — also dealing with this same situation early in his presidency — has ardently supported the Iranian people is considering placing sanctions against the regime for years of corruption.
Obama’s foreign policy was a massive failure, which won’t come as a surprise to anyone.
