The authoritarian left will stop at nothing to make sure abiding citizens don’t have the ability to protect themselves. They constantly try to pass legislation destroying the Second Amendment. Apparently, they’d rather keep citizens unarmed and vulnerable. Thankfully, many conservatives are pushing back. The National Rifle Association (NRA) is just one of the many organizations standing up for the rights of gun owners.
They’re expected to launch a brand new program offering both concealed carry training for anyone with a license and better insurance to gun owners just in case their gun gets them involved in a criminal suit. The training program, designed by former SEALs and other elite military experts, is the best money can buy. The insurance, consisting of three different plans, offers some of the best protection available.
The program, known as the “NRA Carry Guard,” is a major victory for gun rights activists. According to reports, the organization, which has been working on a concealed carry curriculum for lawful gun owners for quite some time, announced that they’re set to begin later this year. When they do, Americans with a concealed carry permit will be able to sign up for insurance and attend training sessions.
Although the NRA already offers a variety of weapons training courses, the concealed carry classes have much higher standards than the other courses, and it takes place over days rather than hours. “It’s going to be much more involved, much more intense,” claims Bill Powers, a spokesperson for the NRA and supporter of the new changes. “It was created from the ground up by a team of veteran SEALS, veteran Green Berets, veteran law enforcement experts, and it is very intense. People who have gone through the program are saying it’s the best they’ve ever seen,” he noted, concluding, “It’s a whole different ballgame. It’s a whole different level of training.”
Leading gun trainers, such as Larry Vickers, Dom Raso, and Joe Collins, have endorsed the program. They like that the new courses will go beyond the basics of safely handling a firearm and get into the advanced details of actually carrying one on your person in public. Additionally, they like that it deals with the tactics of self-defense shooting, the mindset of a concealed carrier, and the relevant laws.
The NRA also plans on launching an insurance plan. According to reports, an armed American will be able to choose between three different offers. There’s a bronze, silver, and gold plan. Unsurprisingly, the bronze option is the cheapest, costing $13.95 a month. It covers up to $250,000 in civil suit protection and $50,000 in criminal defense reimbursement. The silver membership is $21.95 a month and pays up to $500,000 for a civilian case and $100,000 for a criminal case. Obviously, the gold membership is the most expensive. It costs $31.95 a month and covers $1,000,000 civilly and $150,000 criminally.
The amounts help cover bail, a retainer for a lawyer, firearm replacement, pay lost during court dates, psychological support, and cleanup costs. To be covered, the person needs to be acting in self-defense and must be found not guilty of any wrongdoing in court. Anyone with insurance also has access to a 24-hour hotline in case of emergencies, and gets a subscription to a new publication called the “NRA Carry Guard Magazine.”
Powers explained the reasoning behind the update. “Of our 5 million members, a lot of those folks carry and they have been clamoring for the NRA to provide an elite product with respect to training, insurance, and education,” he stated. He also added, “the NRA has responded to our members and to the demand of the consumers, gun carrying consumers, that really wanted a first-rate elite program. NRA Carry Guard is an elite training, insurance, and education program. It is the finest in the world. For any citizen who gets up and puts a gun on their hip, Carry Guard is for them.”
Despite the incredible work done nationally by the NRA, gun-hating lawmakers are pushing to have them stopped. In Oregon, Republican lawmakers recently introduced legislation allowing for the confiscation of personal guns. The bill, sponsored by State Senator Brian Boquist (R-Dallas), makes it possible for a family member to strip someone of their Second Amendment right, and adds more restrictions to firearm purchases.
Many argue that the bill is necessary because they believe it’s a good thing to make it possible for family members to disarm people who may become violent or suicidal. They also like that if the person believes the court order to be unjust, they can appeal. However, by taking away the person’s firearms and making them go through a court process and pay the fees associated with that, their right to due process was violated. They were basically treated as guilty and forced to prove their innocence, rather than the other way around. This must not be allowed.
The far-left seems to ignore the many examples proving why guns are necessary. Earlier this week, a burglar armed with a firearm stormed into Convenient Food Mart and attempted a robbery. However, one of the employees heard the shouting and grabbed the store’s handgun. Surveillance video shows him racing up behind the robber and putting the barrel of the gun to his back, startling the criminal. They fought, ending with the worker successfully disarming the thug. After losing his weapon, the burglar gave up and laid on the ground until the police arrived.
On top of that, in Oklahoma, three armed intruders attempting to break into a house were shot and killed by a rifle-wielding resident. And in Las Vegas, an armed burglar broke into a house and attempted to rob the person inside. Thankfully, the resident was armed, and once he stepped inside, the intruder was shot dead. Without a weapon, the situation could’ve ended much differently.
Despite the fact that the far-left want guns to be banned, many understand their utility. For many, guns help them protect themselves or their loved ones. The NRA understands this, and have announced that they will begin offering training classes and insurance for anyone with a license to conceal carry. This initiative will help make the streets much safer.
