People who identify as “democrats” are strangers to logic. After the recent liberal gun atrocities (conveniently ignoring the deaths caused by a truck rental in the hands of an ISIS supporter), nine different gun control measures have been pushed over the last six weeks in the Senate by democrats. Now, ultra-liberal news network ABC, a.k.a. Disney, is suggesting a tenth gun control option, which they say is a clincher.
The network is calling for firearm confiscation such as Washington state, Oregon, Connecticut and California have. Basically, those liberal ‘utopias’ give law enforcement, through the court, the right to come and confiscate anyone’s guns, by allowing “immediate family members to obtain a court order to prevent a person showing signs of wanting to commit suicide or hurt others from obtaining a gun for a year.”
Any legal firearm owner wouldn’t need to be present during the process, so the first time he or she would even know about the order is when police show up to take away his or her guns.
According to the network, such federal law is supported by Sandy Hook Promise, a gun control group that has collected millions, and Everytown for Gun Safety, a Michael Bloomberg funded organization. The idea is that law-abiding citizens would lose their right to defend themselves if someone in the family is a liberal and can make the accusation.
When the law was being proposed in Oregon, gun rights proponents fought against it. Oregon state Sen. Brian Boquist actually held up a copy of the constitution and said, “When the Supreme Court and other people say it’s constitutional, that’s the law of the law.”
Actually, Mr. Boquist, “other people” don’t get to determine the rights American citizens possess. If enough federal legislators believe the lie, then a law could be passed, but that does not mean that it would stand, nor does it mean that Americans would have to lie down and take it. Many voted for President Trump on this single issue alone.
The laws allow ex parte hearings for gun confiscation. A petitioner could request the order and a judge could grant it without the victim even knowing about it. The wording talks about “family members,” but is it really regulated to them? What if a green-haired Bernie supporter decides that they don’t like their neighbor, and files a petition?
Keely Hopkins works with the NRA and explained that Boquist’s bill violates due process rights. Hopkins said, “This bill allows for a protective order to remove your Second Amendment rights, not because of a criminal conviction, but based on third-party allegations using an evidentiary standard that falls far below what’s normally required for the removing of fundamental rights.”
Exactly. Nevertheless, it was signed by Gov. Kate Brown.
Liberals no not care about the fact that in Sandy Hook, Adam Lanza complied with every gun law and wasn’t considered a danger by any family members. Likewise, Elliot Rodger, who killed people in Santa Barbara in 2014 would not have been hindered by the legislation.
ABC used a bogus statistic to make their proposal more appealing to the ignorant masses who are deluded by their tripe.
ABC News reported that Everytown claims “4,500 Americans died due to gun violence in August” of this year. Really? Is that right?
Actually, no. It’s intentionally misleading. Suicides make up two-thirds of that number. Moreover, when just Chicago, Memphis, and Los Angeles are removed, the homicide gun deaths decrease. Liberals have no concept of rational consideration. They blindly believe and then mouth the lies told to them by their media and democrat overlords.
America does not have a gun problem, it has a liberal idiocy problem, education problem, and removal of God problem. Every country in the world that bans guns from the hands of citizens is filled with gun violence.
UCLA law professor Adam Winkler spoke with the National Journal about the confiscation laws and explained that they will not prevent radicals from obtaining weapons and carrying out their schemes. The only thing that has stopped violence in each “mass murder” case was another firearm in the hands of an upright individual.
Professor Winkler said, “The truth is that it is very rare to know in advance when someone is going to be dangerous with a firearm. This is not going to make a huge dent in our gun violence statistics.”
