Once again, BuzzFeed revealed to be a site full of radical leftists who genuinely believes in some of the most horrendous political systems in the world, such as socialism and communism. This time, the person who got exposed was science editor Kelly Oakes, who made a head-scratching comment on Twitter about communism a couple of days ago.
Fortunately, while she tried to escape from the controversy by deleting her tweet, actor James Woods got a screenshot of it. Naturally, he published it on his Twitter account in order to let people know there’s a lot of Americans who actually believe in something even worse than Nazism. Believe it or not, her tweet read: “All I want for Christmas is full Communism now.”
Given this disturbing episode, The Wrap decided to contact BuzzFeed in order to know its position on this matter. While they managed to speak with a spokesperson of this liberal outlet, this individual declined to provide any comment about the story. Apparently, The Wrap also reached out to Oakes but she also declined to speak about her controversial tweet.
While communism killed way more people than Nazism and anyone still can see its devastating effects in countries such as North Korea and Cuba, people incredibly ignore these facts. Naturally, this story would have been way more controversial and scandalous if instead of communism, this editor would have called for full Nazism as her Christmas wish.
Could you imagine if an editor from a conservative news outlet suddenly tweets he fully endorses National-Socialism? The outrage would be so massive that every single news outlet would be covering the story, and the person in question would be rightly fired immediately. Ironically, this hasn’t been the situation in this case, and people shouldn’t expect anything similar.
After all, we’re talking about a destructive ideology that the left failed to point out its horrible flaws. In fact, almost every single institution –including the media- still analyzes communism and socialism not for its results, but for its “noble” goals.
Communism is said to have been responsible for the death of more than 100 million people in nations like the former Soviet Union and China. In fact, concentration camps still exist in North Korea.
Lamentably, while both communism and socialism have destroyed every country where they have been installed, millennials feel a sickening attraction for these political systems. In fact, some of them even admire the most disgusting figures of these ideologies.
Last month, a survey of the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation found that half of American millennials say they would rather live in a communist or socialist country than a capitalist democracy.
The survey –which was conducted by research and data firm YouGov- revealed some disturbing details and statistics. Believe it or not, 26 percent of millennials viewed Argentinean genocide Che Guevara as a hero, while 18 percent viewed the father of communism, Karl Marx, the same way. Believe it or not, 17 percent felt that Vladimir Lenin should be glorified, 16 percent felt that same way about Mao Zedong, and 13 pointed the same to Kim Jong Un and Josef Stalin.
Regarding these concerning results, executive director of the organization, Marion Smith, assured that millennials now make up the largest generation in America. In addition, she said they are increasingly turning away from capitalism and toward communism and socialism as a viable alternative. Also, Smith explained that their attitude could be a product of their own ignorance, considering that the study also found that 71 percent could not define communism with any precision.

Lamentably, this is not the first time that a prominent figure on BuzzFeed commiserates with communism. Last month, tech and protest reporter Blake Montgomery spoke out against President Trump declaring November 7 as the National Day for Victims of Communism.
In his now-deleted tweet, this man said focusing on victims of this political system was nothing more than a “white nationalist talking point.” Naturally, this was extremely stupid and ignorant, considering Jewish people were one of the main victims of communist in the former Soviet Union.
Montgomery eventually apologized for the radical tweet and said his intentions were completely misunderstood. He assured he didn’t mean to diminish the many real victims of communism. Also, he said he wrote that since white nationalists use Trump’s same language a lot.
