Jimmie Edwards is the new public safety director for the city of St. Louis, Missouri. Edwards has pinpointed Black on Black crime as a major issue in his city at a Martin Luther King Jr. event. In 2017 of the 138 suspects in murder investigations, 137 are Black while only one is White. In the same year, 192 murder victims were Black, 12 were White and one was Hispanic. Edwards said, “This message is for Black folk…We cannot go forward and continue King’s dream unless we look in the mirror and address that problem. That’s a problem that’s on us.”
According to the United States Census Bureau, St. Louis demographics by race are, 129,137 non-Hispanic Whites, 157,160 Blacks, 11,130 Hispanics, 9,291 Asians and 12,576 being of other races or mixed. These numbers indicate that Blacks are far more likely than any other race in the city to murder and be murdered. If you remove Black murders from St. Louis, all murders would drop off 99.3%. According to a study published by the Violence Policy Center released in 2016, the murder victimization rate for Blacks in St. Louis is 30.42 per 100,000, almost double the national Black murder victimization rate of 16.91 per 100,000.
In the United States St. Louis is not unique when studying the demographics of crime. In Indiana the Black homicide victimization rate was 34.15 per 100,000 according to the study. The rates are much higher than other ethnic groups across the country, New Jersey 20.49 per 100,000, California 21.79 per 100,000, Louisiana 23.33 per 100,000, Wisconsin 24.74 per 100,000, Pennsylvania 26.11 per 100,000, Oklahoma 27.36 per 100,000, Nebraska 27.65 per 100,000, Michigan 30.34 per 100,000.
The national homicide victimization rate in 2013, the year the study looked at, was 4.27 per 100,000, while the average Black homicide victimization rate was 16.91 per 100,000. For Whites that rate was just 2.54 according to the study. The study shows 32% of these murders were committed in the commission of another felony. The study concluded, “For the year 2013, Black’s represented 13% of the nation’s population, yet accounted for 50% of all homicide victims.” It is also worth noting this 13% of the population is responsible for over half of the murders in the United States.
According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) crime statistics, in 2013 Blacks which make up just 13% of the population, committed 52.2% of non-negligent manslaughter and murders, 31.3% of rapes, 56.4% of robberies, 33.9% of aggravated assaults, 30.4% of burglaries and 38.7% of all violent crime. Crime in the Black community is being committed wildly out of proportion, and the impacts of this propensity for crime have been devastating.
According to the FBI arrests among juvenile Blacks is also way out of proportion. Of those under the age of 18 arrested for murder and non-negligent manslaughter, Blacks accounted for 54.3% of those arrests. Blacks under 18 also account for 34.3% of minors arrested for rape, 71.4% of minors arrested for robbery, 43.4% of minors arrested for aggravated assault, 40.2% of those arrested for burglary and a whopping 53.3% of all minor arrests for violent crime.
These figures are largely unknown to the American people and have been suppressed for years. The FBI spent decades obscuring the racial demographics of crime as well, engaging in practices such as listing Hispanics as White. The FBI’s most wanted page is largely Hispanic yet the site lists them as white to this day. There are several police agencies across the nation that refuse to report the race of offenders in fear of a public backlash for publishing the facts. Officials at every level of government have become complicit in the coverup.
San Francisco subway stations even refused to release surveillance videos after a string of violent crimes were committed. Debora Allen BART board of directors stated, “To release these videos would create a high level of racially insensitive commentary toward the district, and in addition it would create racial bias in the riders against minorities on the train.”
While this crime is documented by several studies, reported by the FBI and recorded by many local law enforcement agencies, the mainstream media largely ignores the epidemic. When those such as Colin Flaherty draw attention to the issue, leftist organizations like YouTube deplatform them. Flaherty would often say the leftist Black victimization narrative is “everyone’s racist all the time everywhere that explains everything.”
Edwards is a judge and has insight many others do not regarding the crime in his community. If he is successful in addressing the Black crime in his city he will be responsible for a drastic reduction in violent crime and all but eliminate murder. Edwards decision drawing attention to this issue is politically incorrect, and bringing light to uncomfortable truths is likely to draw harsh criticism from the leftist activist.
