Whenever someone is going to leave a position of power, there is always a big deal on what they are going to do before the new elected official comes in. You would hope that the person leaving would do what he or she could to help the new person coming in, but Obama is a special breed.
After all, that would be the respectable thing to do. However, that is just a dream for Donald Trump and his transition team. President Obama is doing whatever he possibly can to slap the country with more rules and regulations that would just be disastrous.
Thankfully, the new session of Congress is in session. Since Republicans are in control of both the House and the Senate, they have already taken action to make sure that Obama can’t completely destroy the country before he leaves office.
President Obama has already sent out a plethora of last minute regulations that are going to affect the country and the taxpayers. These “midnight regulations” that were published after the 2016 presidential election are expected to cost the taxpayers of this country over $44 billion.
In order to stop that, California Republican Representative Darrell Issa reintroduced legislation that allows Congress to overturn executive branch regulations that were finalized in the last 60 legislative days of an outgoing president.
The bill will amend the Congressional Review Act, which allows Congress to regain the power to stop numerous regulations that are trying to rush through the regulatory process. These only happen during the last days of the outgoing administration.
Considering that Obama has already rushed through a multitude of new regulations that he wants to pass, this bill was necessary. It gives Congress a chance to stop the outgoing presidential administration from pushing through whatever they want to with absolutely no repercussions.
Issa’s office released a statement on the new bill that is going to be passed. They said that the bill is designed “to stem a growing trend by Presidents, of both parties, to use their last few months in office to rush in costly, expensive or controversial new regulations.”
Issa had support with this new legislation. It was introduced with support from the Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte and Pennsylvania Republican Tom Marino. Not only that, but it is expected to be approved by the House TODAY.
Issa himself issued a statement on the bill. “Regulations impacting the economy, the environment, families, and our community should be done with great caution and transparency, not get rushed in last-minute on a President’s way out of office. This is a good piece of legislation that will help keep this and future Presidents in check. The Midnight Rules Relief Act is a reasonable plan to strengthen executive branch oversight, giving Congress a better tool to ensure regulations are limited and, when necessary, approved in an open and transparent manner.”
In other words, this was necessary to make sure that Obama wouldn’t suddenly have a dozens of regulations that are going to be against the United States entirely. This also means that taxpayers are going to get a relief, considering that all of his last minute regulations were going to be over $44 billion.
When we as a nation are nearing $20 trillion in debt, the last thing that we need is to have even more spending. That is exactly what Issa was trying to stop. He added, “We have a responsibility to ensure that unaccountable, last-minute regulations don’t continue crippling our economy, crushing small business and raising costs on middle-class families.”
This will also stop any future Democrat from trying to push across what they want to have accomplished. Considering all the last-minute actions that Obama was trying to do since the election, such as placing sanctions on Russia, this new bill is going to be a welcome sight to say the least.
To really show how expensive Obama’s last regulations were, the conservative American Action Forum (AAF) went and put together a list of 40 rules that are scheduled to be published in the Federal Register since November 2016. These 40 regulations are estimated to cost up to $75 billion total. Obama really doesn’t know how to stop spending money!
This is the same Obama that decided to take several vacations during his two terms as president and they were all at the taxpayer’s expense. Obama’s total expenses for these vacations come out to just about $85 million. Yes he used $85 million of your hard-earned money to take a vacation. Really says a lot about how Obama works.
He also doesn’t know how to keep the country safe, as Obama was adamant in releasing a terrorist from Guantanamo Bay. Despite the fact that the military was saying that he shouldn’t be released, Obama’s review board insisted that he had changed. It’s sad and pathetic that Obama is going to completely ignore the military, especially considering whom the prisoner was.
Share this article to show that members of Congress have just implemented a new rule that is going to stop any last-minute Obama regulations from going through. This was a necessary rule, considering how many last-minute regulations Obama just sent through.
