Iranian-Backed ‘Sleeper Cell’ Militants Hidden In U.S., Plotting Attack

Report shows Iranian sleeper-cells are hibernating in U.S., plotting attack.

Congress confirms Iranian-backed jihadists in U.S.

Iranian-backed “sleeper cell” militants are hiding in the United States and plotting to launch large-scale attacks on American soil against civilians, according to The Washington Free Beacon, Congress and White House intelligence.

The bombshell admission came on Tuesday when intelligence officers and former White House officials testified before the House Homeland Security Committee. The group of officials warned that these jihadist “sleeper cells” are largely unknown and are hibernating in the shadows.

The officials testified that the militants are connected to Hezbollah, a terrorist group supported and funded by Iran in the Middle East. They told lawmakers on the committee that Iran has been funding these secret operations and assisting their mission to harm Americans for many years.

The testimony should send a chilling reminder to lawmakers that Iran is actively trying to place militants across the country to carry out strikes. The report comes as President Donald Trump is ramping up pressure on Iran and its continued efforts to fund terrorist groups.

The officials not only revealed the “sleeper-cells” hiding in the country, but warned that they will strike at some point if immediate actions are not taken to target and take out the jihadists.

New York Republican Rep. Peter King, a member of the committee, said there’s overwhelming evidence that Iran is taking steps to carry out a major attack on U.S. soil. King said Iran has also been funding and exploiting groups that reside in Central and Latin America. They are trying to infiltrate the country through the U.S.-Mexico border to hide the radical terrorists.

One of the most disturbing moments came when all of the experts and officials answered in the affirmative when King asked if Iran could use Hezbollah to conduct strikes against the U.S.

The committee also revealed that Iran is believed to have a fighting force of roughly 200,000 militants spread across the Middle East, meaning the terrorist regime has a large force that can create havoc in the region. Officials also warned it means Iran can train and send undercover soldiers to America, which the committee believes has been happening.

The Trump administration has ramped up military efforts in the Middle East, primarily to destroy the Islamic State terrorist group, but officials warned it’s going to take a massive effort to eradicate Iran’s threat.

While former President Barack Obama’s administration funded terrorism in the region and gave Iran billions of dollars, the officials implied this was another mess the Trump administration would have to clean up.
