The left has a very bad habit of ignoring proof that they are wrong. Just today we reported about Maxine Waters’ continued insistence on the Russian-collusion story at the same time it is being destroyed in the media. The same willful ignorance has occurred with climate change. If they close their eyes very tight and hum, maybe they can pretend they didn’t hear the scientific facts.
California is proving their powers of ignoring are strong. The cities of San Francisco and Oakland have both filed lawsuits against the five biggest oil companies, blaming them for something scientists have disproved is even happening.
Dennis Herrera, San Francisco’s city attorney announced the lawsuit today stating;
“These fossil fuel companies profited handsomely for decades while knowing they were putting the fate of our cities at risk. Instead of owning up to it, they copied a page from the Big Tobacco playbook. They launched a multi-million dollar disinformation campaign to deny and discredit what was clear even to their own scientists: global warming is real, and their product is a huge part of the problem.”

The cities want the five companies, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil, BP, and Royal Dutch Shell to pay billions so that they can build infrastructure in advance of rising sea levels. The assumption is that the burning of the fossil fuels made by the businesses causes greenhouse gas emissions. This, in turn, contributes to global warming which melts ice and snow and raises the level of the sea. This theory has been pushed down our throats for many years.
While many scientists believe this, there are just as many that have published evidence to the contrary. There has been increasing evidence that the effect of humans is not as substantial as we have been led to believe. This mounting proof has not slowed down this lawsuit though. Oakland City Attorney Barbara Parker stated;
“The harm to our cities has commenced and will only get worse. The law is clear that the defendants are responsible for the consequences of their reckless and disastrous actions.”

Chevron spokeswoman Melissa Ritchie issued a response;
“Chevron welcomes serious attempts to address the issue of climate change, but these suits do not do that. Should this litigation proceed, it will only serve special interests at the expense of broader policy, regulatory and economic priorities.”
Truly this is just another example of the liberal state’s greed, arrogance, and sadly ignorance. This frivolous suit will hopefully be dismissed soon, saving these companies time and money that could be better spent.
