In a stunning, and seemingly Stazi-like change, democrats in Connecticut (who just gained state control in 2018) are proposing to create a separate state police force to investigate “far right groups and individuals.”
You read that right.
If you’re confused and think you’ve suddenly been transported to 1930’s Germany, or some fictional future written by George Orwell… sadly, you’ve haven’t.
And, the worst part is that the ‘republicans’ in the state’s assembly aren’t even fighting it! The only thing they’re objecting to is that fact that the proposed thought police would only investigate “far right” ideology.
If you are like me and simply cannot understand how something like this is even being proposed, the Washington Times reported on the facts of the issue:
Connecticut Democrats in the state’s Senate have proposed creating a new state police department that would be tasked with specifically combating “far-right” extremism.
The proposal, which was unveiled Wednesday as part of the state Senate Democrats’ “A Just Connecticut” agenda, would publicly fund a new state police department that specializes in investigating “far-right extremist groups and individuals,” according to a news release.
Senate President Pro Tem Martin Looney said the proposal is aimed at combating “potential” hate crimes but stressed that his caucus has no intention of persecuting people for their political beliefs, the Hartford Courant reported.
“Unfortunately, people who entertain hateful beliefs … are protected as long as [those beliefs] don’t result in hate-crime actions. That’s what we’re talking about,” Mr. Looney told reporters Wednesday. “We want to be more aggressive in enforcing our laws and identifying likely sources of potential domestic terrorism acts against religious institutions and ethnic institutions.”
[No sir, you are talking about eliminating free speech and instituting thought control. ‘Potential’ domestic terrorism? Who gets to decide what “potential entails… and how will that person be arrested and controlled?!]
Senate Minority Leader Len Fasano, a Republican, said there is “strong bipartisan support against any type of terrorism” but he took issue with the proposal only mentioning right-wing extremism.
“When they put a right-wing label on extremism, they do that to elicit a political response,” he said, the Hartford Courant reported.
PJ Media noted that federal authorities in recent years classified activities by antifa, the left-wing militant movement, as “domestic terrorist violence.”
But this ISN’T THE POINT.
The point here is whether in the United States of America, people have the choice to express opinions that are despicable, evil, and wrong.
And the answer is YES.
Do they have a right to act… harming others or instigating violence (in specific ways)? No. They never have.
But, the idea that a state controlled, “thought police” department should be created is baffling to me. I don’t generally poke fun at personal aspects, but Mr. Looney is aptly named.
How can they “combat” this extremism? Will they have to pass laws that allow incarceration for certain opinions? Will these people be forcibly taken to ‘rehabilitation’ clinics so that they can be ‘reprogrammed?’
Basically, the people in Connecticut are embracing a system that will control every aspect of their thought and opinions. Sure, it won’t start out that way and they are claiming this is for safety… ‘for the children,’ right… but every abuse and reduction of liberty is American is touted as a means to increase safety. However, the opposite is generally the result.
This move will ensure that hate-filled people aren’t allowed to pursue such wrong thinking to the point of a crime?
What happens when the definition of wrong thinking is changed? When suddenly, the police investigate your KAGA 2020 post as a “far right” opinion? Or the fact that you happen to own firearms and have re-posted something political?
Democrats and many in the media already falsely claim that President Trump is racist. Will support of him in Connecticut get conservatives on a police list?
This is truly fantastic and outside the range of what I thought Americans were capable of accepting.
Apparently, leftists have done their foundational work well over the past few decades by controlling public education. The people are ignorant and willing to trade all liberty for a false sense of security and feeling of superiority.
