Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley is accusing Fusion GPS founder Glenn Simpson of giving “extremely misleading” statements about investigating President Donald Trump following the 2016 presidential election, according to The Daily Caller. Simpson’s $50 million lie was exposed after testimony proved his ‘no client’ claim was false.
In a May 24, letter that was made public on Tuesday, Grassley said Simpson told “outright lies” during his testimony in 2017 before Congress. Grassley said Simpson likely lied when he denied working with clients to investigate Trump after he had already won the election. The Clinton machine is in freak out mode over this bombshell report.
On Aug. 22, 2017, nearly a year after the presidential election, Simpson testified that he was not working for or with any clients who were investigating Trump.
“So you didn’t do any work on the Trump matter after the election date; that was the end of your work?” he asked Simpson.
“I had no client after the election,” Simpson replied.
Grassley said Simpson’s denial is likely an outright lie.
“As we now know, that was extremely misleading, if not an outright lie,” Grassley wrote in his letter to the committee.
“Contrary to Mr. Simpson’s denial in the staff interview, according to the FBI and others, Fusion actually did continue Trump dossier work for a new client after the election,” Grassley added.
Grassley’s assertion that Simpson lied came after Daniel Jones gave the FBI documents in March 2017 showing that he worked with Fusion GPS to investigate Trump’s alleged ties to Russia. Jones told the FBI that a group of seven to ten wealthy donors paid $50 million to fund a project on a second dossier, with which Fusion GPS was involved.
Jones told the FBI that his consulting firm “had secured the services Steele, his associate [redacted], and Fusion GPS to continue exposing Russian interference in the 2016 Presidential election.”
“So, despite the fact Mr. Simpson said he had no client after the election, he in fact did, and that client revealed himself to the FBI,” Grassley wrote in the letter.
Simpson lying under oath about his secret work to harm Trump comes after his firm was exposed for colluding with Hillary Clinton‘s 2016 campaign and the Democratic National Committee to push the anti-Trump dossier.
As reported by Conservative Daily Post, Fusion GPS hired Christopher Steele, a former British spy, to compile the salacious dossier. Steele’s 35-page report is full of numerous, unverified claims asserting that Trump colluded with Russia during the election. Clinton’s campaign and the DNC paid more than $9 million to Fusion GPS to fund Steele’s anti-Trump efforts.
The FBI, Clinton, DNC, and Fusion GPS colluded together to use the unverified dossier to trigger the entire phony Russia investigation against Trump.
And now, Grassley has exposed Simpson for lying under oath about working with clients to continue investigating the president well after the election.
Lying under oath is a felony, which is especially egregious given Simpson is currently involved in arguably the biggest scandals in modern political history.
