Rep. Todd Rokita unveiled a new piece of legislation that will boost American workers and make bonuses given out as a result of the GOP tax cuts nontaxable.
The Indiana Republican’s bill also takes a not-so-subtle shot at House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, who called $1,000 bonuses given to hard-working Americans “crumbs.”
The bill is titled: “Creating Relief and Useful Middle-Class Benefits and Savings,” or “CRUMBS.”
It specifically targets the California Democrat for repeatedly calling the GOP tax cuts pathetic and insignificant.
Getting a pay rise or a $1,000 bonus might be “crumbs” for Pelosi given her elitist lifestyle, but many hard-working Americans will be grateful to receive a bonus and/or pay raise for their hard work.
Rokita also blasted Pelosi in his statement and made it clear his bill is aimed at exposing how out of touch she is with the Americans she claims to represent.
“Americans are receiving thousands of dollars in bonuses and more money in their paychecks thanks to President Trump’s tax reform, but out-of-touch Democratic leaders believe they only amount to crumbs,” Rokita said.
He added: “The CRUMBS Act will let Americans keep more of the money they receive as a result of President Trump’s tax reform, and allow them, not the government, to choose how best to spend their bonuses.”
If passed in the Republican-controlled Congress, Rokita’s bill would make bonuses up to $2,500 received by workers in 2018 nontaxable.
The GOP tax bill has resulted in millions of Americans receiving $1,000 bonuses, wage increases, a vast majority of Americans keeping more of their money, our economy booming, and millions of new jobs.
She’s not fooling anyone with her comments, and now she will be reminded of them even more given that many believe the “CRUMBS Act” has a strong chance of passing in Congress.
While Pelosi and Democrats continue to oppose the American people keeping more of their own money, Trump and Republicans are working to boost the nation and its citizens.
