She was having brunch with her mother when the woman poured water on her and bouncers escorted the her out.

She it safe space needed. She can take it.

Courts have ruled that the First Amendment protects all manner of free speech, even vulgar and/or senseless speech, along with most offensive diction, as long as no one is threatened. This is not enough for some people, however, as the Daily Mail writes that Fox News host, Tomi Lahren, had a drink thrown in her in front of her family. Apparently, in American now, people feel like they may attack anyone they disagree with. However, Lahren’s response to the attack was excellent.

Both Lahren and her mother were doused with water as they departed “rooftop of UNION Restaurant in downtown Minneapolis.” The video was posted on Snapchat with a laughing emoticon and the popular “LOL” tag, a sign that this was all that the attacker could do to muster a little bit of pathetic attention.

Also, the caption for the video read, “Throws a drink on Tomi Lahren hahahah” and “Thanks for the screenshots I did it lol.”

A video shows Lahren in a “heated exchange” with the group who disrespected her while her mother, Trudy, stands boldly by her daughter’s side. People Magazine even showed that the host was self-assured enough to try and take the emptied glass from the person who threw its contents at her.

Lahren’s mother actually gets into the argument and at one point, a man is seen and heard brainlessly saying, “F*** that b***h!’, ‘F*** that h**!,’ ‘Racist-a** b***h!.” Also, devoid of the fact that a restaurant is a public place where anyone is welcome, he asked, “Why you even out here?” The idea that people come to eating establishments to eat appeared to be beyond his meager mental grasp.

Lahren and her mother were both safely removed from the UNION and escorted by security staff.

From there, rumors swirled as a witness named Devon Madison said, “My friend told me she [Tomi] was extremely rude and had a big attitude, according to the Blast.

The bouncer who is seen in the footage, Jeremy Jackson, stated that the disrupters were “scowling at her” as Lahren was leaving the restaurant, based on what the host had said. As the Fox anchor walked by the table, she muttered, “Just another day in the life,” showing that she was not intimidated.

At that point, the water was hurled.

The lady who threw the drink was made to leave the as Lahren walked away.

Yesterday, Tomi Lahren tweeted, “I appreciate the words of support – even from those who normally dislike me. Free speech is a gift – no need to resort to that kind of attack. I’ll discuss the restaurant incident on Fox & Friends tomorrow morning.

An unlikely liberal celebrity, comedian Kathy Griffin, rushed to Lahren’s defense and declared, “I couldn’t disagree more with Tomi Lahren, but I don’t think it’s cool to resort to physical actions to make your point.”

Addressing this kind of outreach, the splashed conservative stated, “There are people that normally detest me and they’re coming to my defense, at least on this incident. So maybe moving forward, those that thought it was funny to throw water at me or antagonize others with my viewpoints, maybe they’ll see that’s not the cool thing to do.

This harkens back to when Sean Hannity and other non-liberals were worried about having pies thrown at them during the Bush years, an offense which Fox’s Sean Hannity has said would end in court if done to him.

The host is used to such abuse, but still, she has feelings, too. “This was something that was embarrassing for me and embarrassing for my family. At the end of the day, I’m a person too. And I do get humiliated and embarrassed just like anyone else,” Lahren said, as Fox Insider has reported.

Don’t look to see her weeping or running for a safe space, however, “It’s really disheartening. But again, I’m tough, I can handle it,” Lahren also said.

President Donald Trump took notice of the slight and typed, “Everybody is with Tomi Lahren, a truly outstanding and respected young woman! @foxandfriends.”

In an America that has progressed enough to allow even the one finger salute to be given to anyone by anyone, to feel the need to take things past mere words and into situations like this is counter to what the whole Constitution exists for. The freedom to speak freely is designed to allow everyone to garner support for their causes), to change what they dislike, and to not keep feelings bottled up to the point where something like this has to happen.

Sadly, as civics is vanishing from the classroom and society becomes more evermore hostile and self-centered, the message has been lost in modern times.
