Florida Shooter Heard Voices, Lawyers Claim Autism And Depression

Police had been called to his house 39 times.

The F.B.I. has found that this was a very troubled young man.

There is a problem in the U.S. that neither the left nor the right is going to have an easy time fixing. On one hand, having anyone with major mental illness having a gun is a disaster that needs to end. On the other hand, the anti-gun crowd wants to call EVERYTHING a major mental illness, and in no time at all, even returning vets who talk to a counselor are not allowed to own a gun. This problem becomes more clear as we look at the fact that the Florida shooter was hearing voices!

Not just any voices, but we are told demonic voices. According to the Daily Mail as well as ABC News, the “demons” which Nikolas Cruz heard led him to kill 17 innocent people and they must have been pretty talkative. Police were dispatched 39 times to the then boy’s home in 2010.

CNN even confirms that there was no shortage of red flags at this dwelling. They report that the reasons for the calls were wide in range and included, “‘mentally ill person,’ ‘child/elderly abuse,’ ‘domestic disturbance,’ ‘missing person,’ and several others

The boy was adopted, and after 68-year-old Lynda Cruz died from pneumonia, we are told that he went to live with at a friend’s home.

The terror that befell Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School left another 14 injured, beyond those who lost their lives, and one of them is in critical condition.

The 19-year-old faces the death sentence, so it stands to reason that many are going to wonder if the “demons” are a way of dodging that fate. Then again, with 39 calls to authorities in just one year when the lad was only a pre-teen, perhaps he has a case.

Cruz kept his eyes on the ground and only answered a police “yes, ma’am” when the judge asked him to confirm his identity as he appeared in court. Melisa McNeil, his public defender, put her arm around him in an effort to comfort him, reports confirm.

The killer certainly understands the full weight of what he did and he is now on suicide watch. McNeil said that Cruz is “…sad. He’s mournful. He’s remorseful. He is fully aware of what is going on, and he’s just a broken human being.

One identified as “another member of the defense team, Gordon Weeks,” added that Cruz “recognizes” what he actually did and is “deeply sad.” She also wept as she said, “He is dealing with the shock of all this that’s going on.” When one imagines the misery that those families who he harmed are suffering, this may not be enough to smooth the road ahead any for Cruz when it comes to sympathy.

Weeks went on to say that Cruz suffers from “autism, depression, and has dealt with significant psychological problems” which she claims that he had improper support for.

McNeil declared, “When your brain is not fully developed, you don’t know how to deal with these things. That’s the child I’m sitting across from.”

This prompted Weeks to say, “The child is deeply troubled and he has endured significant trauma that stems from the loss of his mother.” If this is true (there are people who just can not recover some such things), why was he not already locked away somewhere? Perhaps after the 29th call to this Parkland, Florida, home?

Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi said the death penalty is all but a certainty for the prosecution to seek at this point, regardless of his past or his mental state.

At school, Cruz “sold knives out of a lunchbox” and was thought to be “weird.” This classification likely did very little to help an already troubled mind, but the signs were there nonetheless. He sadistically boasted about killing helpless animals, too. That is a telltale sign of a potential killer and yet he was allowed to walk the streets freely.

Cruz was “kicked out” of school for fighting and for bringing bullets to class, as well. He had been getting treatment for mental health issues but had not returned for a year. This means that, as the rabid anti-gun crowd blames guns for the deaths, we have a medical system that allows a man who kills animals for fun (and brags of it) allowed to not show up to talk to a specialist for over a year without warning bells going off!

There are those who are saying that teachers need to be trained and armed, and while shocking to some, that is not such a bad idea. Even if we banned all guns tomorrow, criminals would have them.

Protecting our children from that fact should be more important than a leftist agenda, so perhaps this idea will, at last, get some traction.
