Lisa Page and Peter Strzok spoke about preparing talking points for then-FBI Director James Comey to give to former President Barack Obama about the Russia investigation because he wanted “to know everything ” they were doing.
Newly released text messages from Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., and the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee reveals Strzok and Page spoke about Obama being deeply involved in the FBI investigation.
Strzok served as the top counterintelligence official at the FBI before being fired by special counsel Robert Mueller last summer. An internal probe revealed he had been sending disturbing anti-Trump text messages to Page, a high-ranking FBI lawyer with whom he was having an affair.
Both Strzok and Page served in leadership positions on Mueller’s team investigating alleged Russia collusion prior to being fired for their extreme bias against Trump.
In a message dated Sept. 2, 2016, Page and Strzok discussed preparing Comey with updates on the Russia probe because “potus wants to know everything we’re doing.”
The text messages reveal that Obama was so involved that he wanted to know everything the FBI was doing to elevate the Russia probe to derail Trump leading up to the 2016 presidential election.
In another text message exchange dated Nov. 4, 2015, Strzok wrote to Page saying Virginians who voted against McCabe’s wife, Jill McCabe, were nothing but “ignorant hillbillys [sic].”
Referring to her election loss in the Virginia state Senate, Strzok said: “Disappointing, but look at the district map. Loudon is being gentrified, but it’s still largely ignorant hillbillys [sic]. Good for her for running, but curious if she’s energized or never again.”
The latest bombshell text messages are part of many that have deeply concerned lawmakers about how top FBI agents abused their power to launch the Russia witch hunt.
Previously released texts between Strzok and Page revealed they discussed using an “insurance policy” with former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe prior to the election.
They also spoke about a “secret society” that met off-site from the FBI building the day after Trump won the election.
The message exchange detailing how Obama wanted to “know everything” the FBI was doing clearly shows obstruction of justice. And it leads many to believe he was working closely with Strzok, Page, Comey, and others to promote the Russia investigation.
If evidence reveals Obama obstructed justice, many would agree he should be charged and held accountable.
Perhaps a second special counsel should be appointed to investigate yet another scandal that took place in Obama’s administration.
