Democrats Party In Puerto Rico With Lobbyists During Shutdown

In a lovely example of democrats’ true priorities, 30 lawmakers are in Puerto Rico partying with 109 lobbyists while government workers are lining up a food banks.

Democrats are partying in Puerto Rico while government workers line up to collect donations from food banks.

Approximately 30 democrat lawmakers left the United States and the current government shutdown behind, hopped on a charted 737, and headed to Puerto Rico to party with 109 lobbyists.

Showing where their real loyalties lie, the winter retreat also includes seeing the Broadway show “Hamilton,” and attend three parties with the show’s cast.

Those attending the Congressional Hispanic Caucus BOLD PAC in San Juan planned to meet with key officials to ‘discuss the cleanup after Hurricane Maria’ sometime today, but the retreat includes mostly downtime for play.

The lawmakers and their families have plenty of time off.

“We are excited for you to join us for CHC BOLD PAC’s 2019 Winter Retreat in San Juan, Puerto Rico! Each year, this retreat serves as a way for our CHC BOLD PAC Members and friends in the D.C. community to come together to escape the cold and discuss our shared priorities for a stronger and more prosperous country,” a trip memo reads.

The lobbyists include people from several big K Street firms, R.J. Reynolds, Facebook, Comcast, Amazon, PhRMA, Microsoft, Intel, Verizon, and unions like the National Education Association.

The event is being held at a seaside resort where rooms go for $429 a night, and food is provided. Nice of these democrats, considering that 800,000 government workers have no checks coming in and many are worried about buying their own groceries.

A 737 was chartered for members, their families, and chiefs of staff to attend the weekend, and the memo reported the weather will be a balmy 80 degrees with a dress code of “resort casual.”

Bold PAC Chair Rep. Tony Cardenas said in a statement, “This gathering was planned months before Trump decided to shut down the federal government for his unnecessary and costly border wall.

“The purpose of hosting Bold PAC’s retreat in Puerto Rico is to see and hear from the more than 3.5 million American citizens who have been working tirelessly to rebuild their lives on the Island after Hurricane Maria.

“This remains a national priority, and it is necessary for us to be there and honor our fellow American children, seniors, veterans, men and women.”

Really? It looks like they’re not really focusing on speaking with 3.5 million people, but more interested in putting on sunscreen and living it up at an expensive resort.

Such actions smack of the hypocrisy that characterizes democrats. It’s actually rather sickening to most people as government workers are lining up for free food.

In fact, the caucus denied entry of a republican, citing ‘certain values’ discrepancy, showing the real bigotry they support.
