Many Democrats refuse to accept the fact that President Donald Trump won the election fairly, largely because Clinton was a terrible candidate. Instead, they’d rather cling to conspiracy theories involving covert agreements between Trump and Putin. According to them, Trump secretly worked with Russia to defeat Hillary. However, as Congress continues to investigate the situation, it’s becoming increasingly clear that the left’s narrative is baseless.
Just recently, Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) admitted that there was no actual proof of any collusion between Trump and Russia. To most people, an absence of evidence would exonerate someone suspected of wrongdoing. But not for her. She believes that’s precisely why we need an investigation
During an interview with CNN, Feinstein claimed that Democrats aren’t aware of anything connecting Russia to the Trump campaign. Specifically, when asked by Wolf Blitzer about whether or not she has any evidence that there was in fact conspiracy between Trump associates and Russia, she responded, “not at this time.”
She’s not the only liberal to admit that they have no evidence of Trump engaging in any misconduct. Earlier this year, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), the House Intelligence Committee’s leading Democrat, told reporters, “I don’t think we can say anything definitively at this point,” noting, “we are still at the very early stage of the investigation. The only thing I can say is that it would be irresponsible for us not to get to the bottom of this.”
Even though there’s a lack of proof, they’re still determined to continue wasting time with the investigation. This is because, like many other Democrats trying to feel better about losing the 2016 election, they believe that Trump won because he worked with Putin. Think about that: Trump’s did such a good job that they think he had outside help. That’s like doing so good on a test that your teacher thinks you cheated even though you didn’t. Whether they realize it or not, it’s actually a huge compliment.
Unfortunately, It also puts Trump in a difficult situation. Much like a student taking a test, it’s extremely difficult for him to prove that he didn’t cheat if he’s being accused of doing so without any proof. However, unlike a test, the left’s conspiracy theories about him have real-life consequences. Many who assume Trump worked with Putin are rioting in the streets, destroying property, and harming others.
Instead of treating him as innocent until it’s proven beyond a reasonable doubt that he did, in fact, collude with Russia, liberals are treating him as guilty until he proves to them that he’s not. This type of burden-shifting must not be tolerated. If someone wants to launch an investigation, they must first have evidence for doing so. If they don’t, we shouldn’t waste time or resources going on a wild goose chase. By doing this, Democrats won’t be able to point to a pointless investigation to perpetuate their Trump-Russia narrative.
Also, it’s important to note that despite being extremely outspoken when it comes to wild accusations regarding Trump and Russia, the far left is eerily quiet about actual misconduct, and possible crimes, that the Obama administration engaged in while they were in control. For example, there is now an overwhelming amount of evidence showing that Trump and his associates were under surveillance while running for office.
On top of that, investigators have recently connected former National Security Adviser Susan Rice with the leaked information coming out of the government. Specifically, White House investigators found out that she was also responsible for revealing the identities of specific U.S. people related to President Trump’s campaign in raw intelligence reports.
According to reports, Rice had repeatedly asked for the identities of U.S. citizens intercepted by the CIA to be “unmasked.” It appears as if Rice’s motives were purely political. She likely did it as a way to resist President Trump and harm those he surrounds himself with, which is grounds for bipartisan disciplinary action. Although there’s much stronger evidence in this situation, since it involves a liberal, Democrats are silent.
Republicans need to stand up to the left’s wasteful spending, especially when it’s for partisan reasons. The time and resources used to investigate Trump’s involvement in Russia, which there’s no proof of in the first place, could be better allocated elsewhere. Rather than take every conspiracy that liberals come up with seriously, conservatives should ignore them until there’s actual evidence. By doing so, our government will be able to focus on real issues.
