When it comes to doing the people’s business, Congress doesnt’ seem to have the time, nor the desire to get to work. But when Congress has a lobbyist buddy call them, they can jump into action, move mountains and have a bill on the presidents desk so fast, it would make Domino’s 30 minute guarantee seem slow.
This is shameful, especially when Congress can not pass any reform on taxes or Obamacare, which directly benefits, or hurts, the millions of Americans in need of less government intrusion, not more. In comes very liberal Massachusetts Democrat, Elizabeth Warren, the self proclaimed defender of the little man and slayer of the “evil 1%-ers”.
Warren’s Senate Bill 670, named the Over-the-Counter Hearing Aid Act of 2017, is speedily moving through Congress. While this looks like more big government dreaming by a liberal known for her love of regulating every aspect of people’s lives, opponents to this bill see it as fraud against consumers who need to see licensed specialists to get properly tested, and fitted, for a hearing aid.
Considering Warren’s disdain for deception when it was the bank supposedly deceiving borrowers, this bill makes no sense, until you realize that Warren gets big campaign donations from headphone manufacturers like Bose. Reports are, Bose has spent at least $50,000 this year lobbying Warren and her fellow crony capitalists in the Congress.
Why would these companies want to be under the governments authority? Opponents to this bill say it is a way to increase sales by labeling their products as medical hearing aids, when they are anything but. This bill does not help those in need of hearing aids, nor does it lower their costs. Once customers realize they’ve been duped, they will have to try another product.
This bill is the same as letting a sunglass maker sell eyeglasses without a prescription, or tests, at the convenience store and say you now have 20/20 vision.
Elizabeth Warren defrauding the public should be nothing new at this point though. The fire-branding Warren has moved up the societal ladder by lying and misrepresenting who she is and what she stands for.
One of Warren’s most egregious “misrepresentations” came to the publics attention in 2012, when she was running for the Senate. That same year, the Boston Herald reported on the Harvard Law School boasting of its promotion of their only female, (fake) Native American faculty member, Warren. The female part of their assertion was true, but 50% is still a failing grade.
When confronted on how this happened, the Senator to be, fell back on tales of “high cheekbones”. Yet a bit more digging also showed that this was not the first time Warren claimed minority status to gain a benefit.
Not long after the Herald’s Harvard bombshell, a George Mason University Law School Professor, David Bernstein, discovered that while at the University of Pennsylvania Warren listed herself on the “Minority Law Teacher” faculty directory for the Association of American Law Schools nearly a decade earlier.
During the housing crisis, Warren’s penchant for dishonesty came to the fore once again. While railing against big banks and greedy capitalists who were supposedly exploiting the common man, Warren did not divulge her activities in buying homes in foreclosure and making some quick, nice profits.
In one deal, the northeasterner swooped in to buy an Oklahoma City piece of property from a 70 year old lady who recently inherited the home from her mother. Just a short five months later, the anti 1% liberal sold the home for almost four times what she paid for it.
The granddaughter was not too happy about the deal, stating: “I don’t think it’s right, but I don’t really know much about it. . . . You flip houses to make a profit, so I can’t really fault [Warren] much. I think my grandmother made a mistake by selling it for so cheap. . . . She had worked hard all her life and was a self-made woman.”
While no one would fault the Senator for taking advantage of a deal, even if it is at the expense of a little old lady who just lost her mother, it does speak to the character of Elizabeth Warren. She has shown time and again that rhetoric and her actions do not match up, and if she can take advantage of a situation, she will.
I am not sure how to say “hypocrite” in Cherokee, but the term seems to fit.
