When the Constitution was created, it created a system of checks and balances to make sure that one branch of government wouldn’t become too powerful. It means that the President can veto a bill passed by Congress, but it also works the other way around.
That means that Congress can still vote to override the presidential veto. This was just a way to make sure that neither branch would obtain more power than the other.
The American people saw that happen right before their eyes, as Congress voted to override President Obama’s veto on a bill that would allow the families of people that were killed in terrorist attacks to sue the foreign governments. This means that if you had a family member killed in 9/11, you can now sue the government of Saudi Arabia.
It is a bill that is designed to have people finally get their well-deserved reparations. But that wasn’t the way that the president saw it. He actually stood in the way of people that were trying to seek justice for their family members. You know how else that can be described? Obama was trying to side with the Saudi Arabian government!
So he believed that he could stand in the way of those people that were just trying to finally get justice after 15 years. However Obama seemed to forget about the Constitution…again. As stated earlier, the Constitution gives Congress the power to override a presidential veto if two-thirds of the House and Senate vote to override it.
Despite Obama’s pleas to not override the bill, The Senate voted 97-1 to override the bill. The only two senators that didn’t vote were Bernie Sanders and Tim Kaine. Needless to say the president’s veto was overridden. In fact this vote caused the White House press secretary to call it an “abject embarrassment.”
Now in the aftermath of the vote, the White House seemed to be sulking a bit. In fact, this was what the press Secretary Josh Earnest had to say about the override. “It’s hard to take at face value the suggestion that they were unaware of the consequences of their vote, but even if they were, what’s true in elementary school is true in the United States Congress, ignorance is not an excuse. Particularly when it comes to our national security and the safety and security of our diplomats and our service members.”
The White House is seriously comparing Congress to children in elementary school because they had a veto overturned? It sounds like that the people who should be compared to children are the members of the White House themselves. They lost. It’s time to get over it.
Besides, the fact that the president vetoed this bill in the first place should raise some questions. Why on Earth would a leader of a nation refuse to let its people seek justice for what happened to them on one of the most horrible days in United States history? Does he forget what happened on 9/11? A terrorist attack on the World Trade Center cost the lives of nearly 3,000 Americans. The families of those 3,000 people should be allowed to seek justice!
Instead of allowing them to do that, President Obama decided to side with the Saudi Arabian government and refused that. That is about as anti-American as you can get!
Real American citizens would be more than happy to let the victims of this terrible tragedy find support. And yet Obama didn’t. They have a word for people who refuse to side with their own countries. If you really think about it, Obama committed a form of treason.
He went against the United States government and the citizens of this country to side with the country and the government that was responsible for the attack! He was trying to protect them! And now that he lost, he has the audacity to tell the members of Congress that they are acting like children?
No. They are acting like true Americans. They want to see those family members finally see justice that has eluded them for 15 years. They want to make sure that their deaths were not in vain.
If anyone is acting childish, it is the White House. They are acting childish and un-American for choosing this side in the first place. But of course, Democrats seem to value everyone else over American citizens. That explains a lot if you think about it.
Americans don’t want to see more refugees in the country, and yet Obama and Hillary Clinton are advocating bringing in more. They value the concerns of the refugees over the concerns of their own citizens. Whatever happened to being a leader for the people of the United States?
Not to mention that the Democrats actively support people that refuse to salute the American flag, stand for the National Anthem, and they are against our military and police. Every single one of those items mentioned above has some sort of American pride, and they are against all of them. It’s sad and pathetic when a leader can’t even say that he has pride in the nation.
Share this article to show that President Obama and the Democrats are people that are completely against American pride. That is the only explanation that he can give for wanting to veto a bill that would allow people to seek justice for what happened on 9/11.
Right now the people of the United States deserve a leader that is actually proud of the country and its citizens. Right now that person is Donald Trump. If you want to say that you have a leader that respects the country, then go and vote for him. Otherwise we will have another four years of anti-American values.
