Hollywood legend Clint Eastwood cast American heroes Anthony Sadler, Spencer Stone and Alek Scarlatos to play themselves in his upcoming film “The 15:17 to Paris.” The trio stopped an Islamist radical from shooting up a train with almost 600 passengers.
The movie, which began production this week, will follow the lives of the three Californian men from childhood to August 2015, when they successfully stopped the ISIS terrorist from executing a gun attack on a high-speed train traveling from Amsterdam to Paris.
The U.S. Air Force Airman First Class Spencer Stone, civilian Anthony Sadler, and Oregon National Guardsman Alek Skarlatos will appear as themselves in the highly-anticipated movie alongside Judy Greer and Jenna Fisher.
Just as many heroic situations, the train incident started in an unorthodox way, given the fact that the three American friends who helped foil what could have been a mass shooting started their journey in a different car.
Anthony Sadler explained that when they got on the train in Amsterdam, they could not find their first-class seats, so they decided to seat elsewhere. The college student said that at one moment they decided to get up since the WiFi wasn’t working correctly. Sadler pointed out that about half an hour after the train pulled away from Netherland’s capital, they switched to the car where the shooter soon opened fire.
The American trio tackled and disarmed an Islamist militant who packed two guns, a knife, and nine clips of ammunition into his rucksack. Spencer Stone, who had his left arm in a sling and his right eye bloodshot and watering, told that while the terrorist seemed like he was ready to fight to the end, so were they.
He explained that the one idea in his mind as he sprinted to disarm the Islamist extremist was to survive no matter what. Stone explained he was in the middle of a deep sleep when he heard the initial scuffle between the terrorist and a French citizen, who was the first to stumble on him. But then Alex Skarlatos, who recently returned from a deployment in Afghanistan, hit Stone on the shoulder and said: “Go.”
The three Sacramento friends assured there was no time to plan or even think, given the fact this was an extremely delicate situation where they could not hesitate a single second. Regarding this moment, Skarlatos said he just kind of acted since there wasn’t much thinking going on on his mind.
Stone said that soon after the terrorist was tied up, he noticed that another passenger had been severely wounded by a bullet during the shooting and was squirting a lot of blood from his neck. He told that far from concentrating on his terrible injuries, he focused on saving the other victim’s life. Stone stuck two of his fingers into the victim’s wound to hold an artery closed until the paramedics showed up.
Skarlatos assured that this terrible incident had also been averted due to the Islamist’s incompetence. He said that both guns, a Luger pistol and an AK-47, appeared to have jammed during the shooting.
The Oregon National Guardsman also pointed out that it was clear how the terrorist had no firearms training, since if he had known what he was doing, or just got lucky and did the proper moves, he would have been able to operate through all of those magazines.
Naturally, he told that if that would happen none of the three would be alive and the Islamist extremist would have killed most of the train’s passengers.
The terrorist name was Ayoub el-Khazzani, a Moroccan two weeks short of his 26th birthday. Authorities revealed he was radicalized in a Mosque well known for its violent and extremist messages.
The three Americans were lauded as heroes by former President Barack Obama and by then French President François, who awarded them the Legion of Honor, which is France´s highest decoration.

Clint Eastwoo’´s movie is based on the book written by the three friends and author Jeffrey E. Stern about the incident. The book is called “The 15:17 to Paris: The True Story of a Terrorist, a Train, and Three American Heroes.”
The film is set to be Eastwood’s latest project based on a real event involving a heroic act. One of the most recent pieces was “American Sniper,” which told the story of Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle, played by Bradley Cooper.
Eastwood is known for being a Republican and the most important conservative figure in Hollywood. He has been considered as one of the greatest filmmakers of all time, being awarded with two Oscars for best director and two Oscars for best movies.
Despite being widely criticized, Eastwood supported Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election against Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.
