Given several former presidents failed to take any meaningful actions to quell North Korea’s nuclear threat, CIA Director Mike Pompeo warns that the rogue regime is only a “handful of months” away from being able to attack the U.S.
During his interview on CBS “This Morning,” which aired Monday, Pompeo told host Norah O’Donnell that the dictator Kim Jong-un could soon be capable of carrying out a major attack on the U.S.
“We’ll never know the exact nature of what’s taking place. We’ll never know the exact moment that they’re going to continue [to detonate another nuclear bomb]… But the core risk … [is that] North Korea’s nuclear weapons program is continuing to expand, advance, become more powerful, more capable, more reliable,” Pompeo said.
The CIA director stood firm in reminding Kim and others that the U.S. cannot be matched military, and that it would use that power if North Korea continues to bolster its nuclear arsenal.
“But the core risk that the policymakers needed to know was that North Korea’s nuclear weapons program is continuing to expand, advance, become more powerful, more capable, more reliable. Each of those things had been shared with policymakers,” he added.
Pompeo said that while the U.S. hopes to avoid war, he assured that America would not hesitate to remind the rogue regime that the U.S. has the most powerful military in the world. He spoke about this problem three months ago.
Former Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama all refused to do anything to deter the growing threat from North Korea.
But Trump has stood firm in make the rogue regime well aware that the U.S. would not hesitate to rain down “fire and fury” against Kim.
After numerous North Korean missile launches and threats to destroy the U.S., Trump and Pompeo have made it clear that the U.S. is more than capable of preventing a missile from reaching the homeland.
And while the regime may be a few months away from launching a missile capable of reaching America, the U.S. will annihilate the regime with overwhelming fire power if it crosses the line.
