Campus Police Ask For Help Identifying Leftist In Brutal Assault Video

Video of the incident shows an intolerant leftist attacking a peaceful conservative on the campus.

The real violence and hate are on the side of the left.

In the wake of Jussie Smollett’s fake hate crime, real attacks are taking place against conservatives on an almost daily basis on college campuses where liberalism is a way of war.

The University of California police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who savagely attacked a conservative activist exercising his right to free speech at Berkeley.

The assault was captured on video by a passerby.

The campus police website said that two men on Tuesday approached a table where the activist was recruiting members to his group, and an argument ensued.

“The victim, identified by Turning Point USA as Hayden Williams, held up his cell phone and began filming the two men who were allegedly harassing him. One of the two men knocked over the table, police said, and then punched Williams several times, causing injuries to his face.”

By the time police arrived, the spineless leftists were gone.

Williams is not a member of Turning Point, but a campus representative for Leadership Institute, according to Campus Reform, a conservative news site that the institute operates.

A witness told Fox News the recruitment table had a sign that said: “Hate Crime Hoaxes Hurt Real Victims,” in reference to the case of “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett.

Apparently, it’s offensive to request the truth?

Guillermina Castro, a UCBerkeley freshman who is trying to “establish a Turning Point USA chapter on the campus, said it was her idea to set up the table to offer information to potential recruits.

“She said that harassment of conservative students is so common these days that she felt nervous about leaving Williams at the table alone as she sat in a class.

“When she returned to the table, she found her concerns had been well-founded.”

“I saw our sign ripped up, all our papers were on the floor, Hayden was covering his [injured] eye,” Castro told Fox News. “I said ‘Oh my God, what happened?’”

“He said that a guy had just punched him in the face.”

Then, when she tweeted about the attack, she was attacked by the social media hate mob.

“One woman called me a white supremacist,” she explained. “I said ‘Wait, I’m Latina!’”

“College campuses have become increasingly unsafe for conservatives,” Charlie Kirk, the founder and executive director of Turning Point USA, told Fox News. “Our amazing Turning Point USA team was talking and then confronted by the hateful left which resulted in the assault and punching in the face just because of a difference of opinion. If the attacker was wearing a MAGA hat, this would be classified as a hate crime and all over every news channel.”

Campus Reform quoted Williams as saying: “Some students nearby tabling were laughing, even one guy was smiling while I was being attacked and trying to hand me his flyer as a joke. The idea is free speech has consequences…. which include you getting assaulted if they find you promoting ideas others don’t agree with.”

Alex Szarka, a junior who happened to be passing by immediately grabbed his phone to record the altercation.

“I was walking by when I saw it, it escalated so quickly,” Szarka said. “The Turning Point USA table had signs that on a campus like Berkeley, would be seen as provocative. I was surprised to see [the reaction] be this bad. I would like to see the guy get arrested, and expelled immediately. In any other situation, without the politics, this would absolutely be a very well-publicized thing. I was in disbelief.”

“As we were approaching the main area on campus where student groups have their tables set up, we noticed [the TPUSA student] with a sign that said something like, ‘be aware of false hate crimes,’” said Szarka to Breitbart News.

“Then we noticed the altercation — a couple of people were really getting into the [TPUSA] guy’s face,” continued the witness, “Then, one of them flipped the table over. That was when I started filming. It all happened very quickly.”

“Unfortunately, I’m not exactly surprised at what transpired,” said Szarka, adding that after the incident, he had heard an individual defending the actions of the aggressor.

“I heard a guy say something like, ‘Yeah, violence is not okay, but he was effectively asking for it by being provocative,’” said Szarka, “He was referring to the sign about Smollett.”

“Our Turning Point USA students on over 1,400 campuses experience this type of hate almost daily,” Charlie Kirk told Breitbart News, “We will not back down to the Leftist inspired hate mob that wants to silence us.”

UC Berkeley released the following statement:

UC Berkeley strongly condemns violence and harassment of any sort, for any reason. That sort of behavior is reprehensible and intolerable. We have, in recent years, spent millions of dollars to ensure that students from across the ideological/political spectrum can safely and successfully promote and discuss their beliefs. Our commitment to freedom of expression and belief is unwavering. At this point we have no information indicating that the perpetrators are affiliated with the university. If it is determined that students were involved we will not hesitate to impose serious consequences as per our student conduct process and, if warranted, the criminal justice system. The same holds true should the evidence suggest a member of the public was involved. Yesterday, a message was sent to the campus community with a picture of the suspect, and a request that anyone with information about the incident come forward and report what they know in support of our police department’s ongoing investigation. We intend to identify and bring the perpetrators to justice.
