You’re looking at the first inmate to receive a state-funded sex change

Liberals raise taxes so they can funnel money to their pet projects. California just decided to use money gleaned from hardworking Americans to fund a sex change operation for a convicted murderer. It sounds like the plot of a bad Lifetime movie.

Obviously convicts deserve medical care. All necessary treatments should be, and are, provided to them. Denying a prisoner access to medically necessary treatment is the equivalent to sentencing him to a slow and tortuous death.

Elective procedures however are just that- elective. Problems with self-image need to be addressed by a psychiatrist, not a surgeon.

“A 57-year-old convicted killer serving a life sentence in California is the first inmate in the United States to receive state-financed sex-reassignment surgery,” reports the New York Times.

“California prison officials agreed in August 2015 to pay for the surgery for the inmate, Shiloh Heavenly Quine, who was convicted of first-degree murder, kidnapping and robbery for ransom and has no possibility of parole.”

Chelsea Manning is perhaps the most infamous example of a male prisoner who opted for a sex change while incarcerated

Millions of Californians suffer from extreme poverty yet liberals decided that the fantasies of a confused killer were more important. There are kids dying of cancer, mothers struggling to put food on the table.

But who gets a fat payday from the government?

Why, the convicted murderer who wants a sex change, of course.

Welcome to California!

“As averaged from 2013 to 2015, California had America’s 17th-highest poverty rate, 15 percent, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. But, by a newer, more comprehensive Census accounting, California’s true poverty rate is an eye-popping 20.6 percent—the highest in the nation,” Forbes reports.

Californians pay a cost of living that might make a small-town Midwesterner choke. Many pile on top of each other in small apartments in order to save money on rent, sometimes sleeping 3 or 4 people to a room. How many of those people could have benefited from the thousands of tax dollars that were instead used for Quine’s sex change? Millions?

According to the New York Times, the ruling “prompted a federal magistrate to require California to provide transgender female inmates housed in men’s facilities with more female-oriented items like nightgowns, scarves and necklaces.”

Wait, what barf-inducing phrase did I just read? We now have to give necklaces and scarves to male inmates? There are real women who’ve never been given piece of jewelry!

California prisons are among the toughest and most populated in the country

Let’s keep this in mind:

“Quine and an accomplice kidnapped and fatally shot Shahid Ali Baig, 33, a father of three, in downtown Los Angeles in February 1980, stealing $80 and his car during a drug- and alcohol-fueled rampage.”

He cruelly deprived another human being of their life and liberals still manged to decide that he deserved thousands of taxpayer dollars for elective surgery. There are scores of men and women who desire the same treatment yet are stuck scrounging for cash. If the government suddenly cares about sex changes, why is an inmate the first person to benefit from the new “enlightened” policy?

Lately the news has been cluttered with stories featuring transgender individuals. People who don’t want to be identified as he or she, men who want to use the women’s bathroom and vice versa. Issues that affect perhaps 1 percent of the population on a generous estimate are now treated as something that should be important to the rest of us.

“My dad begged for his life,” said Farida Baig, who attempted to block Quine’s surgery. “It just made me dizzy and sick. I’m helping pay for his surgery; I live in California. It’s kind of like a slap in the face.”

For the past 8 years liberal politicians have been running amok. What a relief that Hillary Clinton didn’t win the election!

You don’t have to be an inmate in San Quentin to know that male prisons are one of the most violent places on earth that you can find yourself stuck in. Women’s incarceration centers, while no Hyatt, are significantly safer and more comfortable. Funding sex changes for males serving life sentences encourages people to ask for the surgery. Why not? They’re never getting out anyway.

“Joyce Hayhoe, a spokeswoman for the federal court-appointed official who controls California’s prison medical care, said the cost of sex-reassignment surgeries could approach $100,000, including procedures and medications before and after the operation,” reports the San Francisco Gate.

“Since the state approved its policy, officials have received 64 other inmate requests for sex-reassignment surgeries, and four have been approved.”

Court systems have fought in court for years to avoid incurring the charges for expensive sex-reassignment surgeries. The left, looking to gain LGBTQ votes, refused to let the issue die. Out of the myriad of problems facing our prison system, they chose to focus on prisoners access to sex changes.

California’s government needs to be booted out of office and replaced with politicians who actually know what they’re doing, but that’s long been true. For now it would be enough if they could just abstain from acting patently absurd.

Government funds should be used to help people, not to create a veneer of “openness.”
