They are protecting the border from the invasion of military age men and captured hundreds of them this week.
The New York Times ran the article with the headline “asylum seekers held at gun point.”
But, these aren’t asylum seekers, not by any stretch of the imagination. These are men who are coming here to live off American taxpayers, commit crimes, and generally form a strong part of the criminal element in the nation.
However, the militia group is helping to stop that. In fact, they say they will remain on site until the wall is built.
This week, the group posted several videos of their captures. In one, they held approximately 200 invaders until border patrol could take the men into custody.
Jim Benvie, a spokesman, told The New York Times in a phone interview that the group of ex-military, ex-law enforcement and others plan to stay until congress does something about the crisis.
Of course, liberals are furious that these citizens are helping.
“It should go without saying that regular citizens have no authority to arrest or detain anyone,” the governor of New Mexico, Michelle Lujan Grisham, said in a statement to The New York Times, adding that it is “completely unacceptable” that migrants be “menaced or threatened” upon entering the U.S.
Of course, she also defied the president and forced the National Guard to leave her state, which allowed an increase of invaders.
And, a man convicted of doing unspeakable acts to children was let off by a judge twice in the state. Maybe the militia isn’t such a bad idea?
The American Civil Liberties Union said in a statement that “the Trump administration’s vile racism” emboldened these groups.
Carlos A. Diaz, a spokesperson for Customs and Border Protection, would not divulge specific details about the scene in the video or about the United Constitutional Patriots, but said Border Patrol “does not endorse private groups or organizations taking enforcement matters into their own hands.”
The Daily Caller reported, “The militia and groups like it have previously indicated their intention of apprehending illegal migrants. The CBP has issued instructions in the past to residents to ensure the militias are not a recognized state or federal authority.”
In one video, a member of UCP who livestreamed the encounter can be heard saying, “Lots of coughing. Lots of men with little children. We need the wall folks, please share this. Lots and lots of coughing folks. This is what’s coming across our border. How bad does it get before we actually build the wall?”
Benvie also streamed on Facebook as they waited for BP agents saying, “I literally walked out and I looked, and all I saw was hundreds of people coming at us.”
“We’re just Americans,” Benvie told Daily Mail. “We’re veterans, we’re ex-law enforcement, we’re people that care about our national security. We’re people that care about our strained Border Patrol.”
Speaking about the relationship with Border Patrol, group leader John Horton told Newsweek, “We have a good work rapport with them. Our goal was to be here until we’re not needed. And when we’re not needed is when that wall is up.”
