Ahead of crucial 2018 midterm elections in both the Senate and House of Representatives, the left-leaning American Civil Liberties Union has unveiled a never before seen election plan.
As noted by Politico, the ACLU announced it will spend more than $25 million to promote liberal initiatives and causes in the 2018 election, where intolerant leftist groups will be receiving funding to “fight back” against Trump supporters and Republicans.
After receiving roughly $93 million in 2017, the leftist organization is positioning itself to rival the National Rifle Association as a major force on the left and become the headquarters for all anti-Trump activities.
“It’s clear that a larger portion of the American public is deeply engaged in politics in a way they’ve never been before,” said Executive Director Anthony Romero, boasting about the ACLU’s plans to be the largest leftist organization in 2018.
The group said a vast majority of its spending in 2018 will be to target Republicans running in either the Senate or House, where they will go after individuals on the “wrong side of their issues.”
The thinly veiled battle cries from the organization have led some to believe they are preparing to fund activist groups to take on Republican candidates.
“When you look at what Trump and [Attorney General Jeff] Sessions have created, the outrage has made voters want to know how they can reverse the tide,” said ACLU political director Faiz Shakir.
Shakir assured individuals that the organization was gearing up to launch a major push against Trump.
With the ACLU pledging to play a major role in the 2018 elections and launch major uprisings against Republicans and those who support Trump, that should be concern many Americans.
