The American Center for Law and Justice has filed two lawsuits against several government agencies over their failure to adequately investigate the Uranium One bribes and kickbacks scandal involving former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
The ACLJ lawsuits name the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Department of Treasury, Department of Justice, and Department of State over their failure to investigate Clinton being paid millions after she approved the sale of American uranium to Russia.
After the agencies refused to comply with a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit, the ACLJ is calling on a federal court to order the agencies to hand over all documents related to the FOIA request.
The deal resulted in Russia acquiring 20 percent of the United States’ uranium.
Before the deal was approved in 2010, Russian investors and officials associated with the scam donated more than $145 million to the Clinton Foundation and former President Bill Clinton was given $500,000 for giving a single speech in Moscow.
When an FBI informant involved in the Uranium One deal said he had evidence that Russians told him they bribed and provided kickbacks to the Clinton Global Initiative, the Obama administration issued a gag order to keep him quiet.
“The ACLJ’s FOIA, and now the resulting lawsuit, seeks information that would shed light on this ill-advised—and, frankly, foolish—deal approved by CFIUS. Specifically, the information the ACLJ has demanded in its FOIA request will reveal just how much information the Obama FBI/DOJ provided to members of the CFIUS before its approval of the deal, as well as the validity of reports that Russia tried to bribe Hillary Clinton,” the ACLJ statement said.
The second lawsuit from the watchdog group involves former FBI Director James Comey’s handling of Clinton’s use of a private email server and decision to delete tens of thousands of emails after she had been advised to preserve them.
In their statement, the ACLJ said they will, “continue to hold the deep state bureaucracy accountable.”
